That is the real good news. As i always wanted to buy phones other than Sony Ericsson but didnt do that because of all the fuss about chargers ............and i got a suggetion

they should make same earphone socket for all phones as well.

What nonsense! MicroUSB is the worst charging socket ever produced. It breaks the fastest out of any other charger tips out there. I should know, I deal with cellphone accessories as part of my business! The best Charging tips are those of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and the Motorola Mini USB.

Wow. Very suprising indeed, But in saying that is great news. No more dead battery when your at a mates place or at work!

And its going to be great news for the environment.

And the manufacturers miss out on the add on sales when people lose their charger, or its faulty

what the hell they should do is to standardise the...

-charger fer all batts (usb, or standard charging whatever)
-3.5mm audio jock.. what good is a sennys, or the UEs if you cant plug it in the mobiles?
-data cable (like what they have here)
            -handsfree that's good! @_@

i was thinking.. why is there no digicam that has bluetooth? that'll be one helluva a good digicam it canon can get one @_@

Yes, one universal charger. It should work... most cell phone batteries are 3.7 Volts. SE, Samsung, Nokia, Moto (haven't opened any others but I assume it's the standard). Since they can be charged from a computer USB port (no idea what the voltage is but I assume it's higher than 3.7V) like, for example, Motorola, then it shouldn't harm the batteries or create problems.

                hmmm...

I would assume the next step for the phone manufacturers is to not package a MicroUSB charger with the phone then because it is commonly available then, but still charge us the same price....

2 other steps they would/could do:

                1) standardise the hands-free device socket or totally not have a plug-in hands-free and rely totally on bluetooth instead

                2) Not include the software disc and have the buyers upload it over the net

                Phone manufacturers, are you listening?
me thinks me should get a commission for this... i would humbly ask for a handset for every new launch... does it sound like a good idea? ;)

OK WAIT, this is great news however when they say "standard ised charger"

are they talking about the port only; MicroUSB here or something like one Charger that charges Nokia, SE , Moto , Samsung.

Reason: i've mixed a couple of chargers like charging the PS3 controller using a moto charger and trying to charger a moto using HTC's charger, even tried N85 on something else.

and most of the time it doens't work even if its the same port.

if its one universal charger than its gotta mean something like standardized batteries too.

                  later homies keep chillin

remember back in the day when the "Full Sized" usb was being replaced the same 'oh no another cable' happened.. but now Mini is great

but i do agree they could have stopped at Mini, i guess the new faction was "ultra Slim" which is why Micro was made.

Hopefully thats it, don want a NanoUSB

Christov, 29 Jun 2009Great move? Perhaps, I think miniUSB was a better option as... moreAgree mini-USB can do the job well already.

My mom, who is over 70 now and lives alone, can easily manage charging her phone using mini-USB. The trapazoid design makes the user easily recognize which way to plug in without being loose easily.

However, as mentioned by others, relatively speaking micro-USB seems more fragile, and I doubt my mom can find the "proper way" to plug in the charger as easy as mini-USB.

That's why I bought almost every single Moto flip phones with mini-USB charger port, just in case my mom's W510/Maxx V3 ever fails....(actually they're 2 years old and both phones...and the charging port, are working fine)

I think phone designers shouldn't just think of the hi-tech savvy customers, but others across the spectrum as well.
