I think "proprietary" is the wrong word to use here, since the article clearly states "Apple SIM is removable, so carriers can use a conventional setup if they are willing to." suggesting it comes with a regular SIM, just one provided and branded by Apple that can be connected to more than just a single network. Probably US only, mind, knowing how these things work.

It's like us complaining about how crappy it is to be on android for all these years, how android kit Kat is only available on certain android devices, how crapy a 700 dollar android phone become after 2 months, how the nexus 6 built in sup par quality is all of a sudden the price Of an s5 or we can simply take the hide road and don't go android.

propriety SIM card hey ... come on EU take them to court over anti-competitive behaviour like the EU took Microsoft to court over neeing IE to do Windows OS updates in WIN98, WIN ME and then WIN XP.
Apple need to realise either they adapt to what the world wants or they are gonna go down like they did in the mid 80's, 90's and this time round they cant have Jobs come back to save them.
As for this propriety SIM, hmmmm reminds me of AMPS/CDMA NAM1/2 system ....
Or how about R-UIM ...
Its not gonna work and its only gonna hurt Apple , but hey screw them for sub standard products and an OS that is full of holes.

Domu see the report about the iPhone 6 and 6 plus of how many customer purchased the product no matter how expensive they are? Because people believe that they will get what they paid for and they already trust apple that they will have a hudred percent garantee that the product is worthy enough and will satisfy them...
