Samsung Omnia II goes to Austria with WinMo 6.5 out-of-the-box

Research and try a WinMo before bagging it. I do not see a huge difference in colour from my HTC Touch to my friend's iPhone...
Lots of software developers for WinMo don't use the full 65k colours (or just plain fail at graphic design), so blending looks bad. With the right graphics and software, it can do everything you want.
WinMo 6.5 looks nice...isn't that the major flaw of WinMo? That is doesn't have a toyish UI? (i.e. Compare iTouch and Zune HD...iTouch looks like a children's toy) But the strength of WinMo is flexibility, and bad graphics can be replaced with the appropriate software.
Apple is only ahead because of the bandwagon effect. "It's made by Apple, it's good." Everyone who bothers to go on the internet should know what Apple isn't as good as it seems...the almost unheard-of Microsoft Zune range has superior sound quality to any iPod, which are the class leaders. For the iPhone, I see it as a conformity item, and makes you feel rich...
iPhone has more developers, so more apps. Apple fanboys can spend the rest of their lives marvelling at the Apple logo, and can help random monkeys pick up bananas...I will watch WinMo advance, cover its flaws and reinforce its position as the most powerful OS.

OJS, 06 Jul 2009I agree about people btchn about a WinMo phones interface. ... moreThey moan about WinMo because they don't appreciate what WinMo can do. They're just looking for cookie cutter platforms. Out of the box must look "cool". WinMo says, "I have an OS, you choose how it should look".

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2009pathetic truely pathetic. Maybe you'd be an "iSheep" if you... moreNot IPhone nor Andriod nor Symbian is as powerful as Windows Mobile. Period. There's no way to argue it. Its flexible enough, performance always tied to hardware rather than "which version its running" and is designed to behave similar to a desktop OS. Just because the UI is better doesn't make it better. Iphone doesn't multitask, Symbian apps are often sized and memory capped, Andriod is well.. Unable to do many things WinMo does. It may not be the prettiest or the smoothest to use, but it it the most powerful OS in the market.

I agree about people btchn about a WinMo phones interface.
With SPBMS3, Winterface, PointUI, and so many others out there, there's no reason to use the standard WinMo interface.
And for all the ISHEEP out there.....there's always the Ifonz interface available for WinMo. Now you have ....

I dont understand why everybody is talking about UGLYNESS of the WINMO UI. Me too i'm not a fan of WinMO n very far 2 be a fan of ISHEEP. But this phone is all that every Geek would like along with the i8910, even the poor N97 cannot be at their level. AND 4 those who dont like WINMO, like me, samsung manage to put its own UI that runs on WinMo on that phone, its like an incredible layer of paint on a pathetic (i agree) OS n UI. So dont expect to get anything of the UI of WinMO on this phone... Thats why i like it...

This hand set has some serious hardware built in... just hope the developers make use of it though!. Can't understand why everyone these days seem to think Apple invented the touch screen phone, when I had a kick ass touch screen phone way back in 2005(at the time;) years before Apple was even considering about a touch screen phone. Not dissing Apple because I own and use Apple computers for my work, but some people should get real (yes you fan-boys out there)as innovation is always followed by new innovation. Keep up the good work Samsung!

L00k_C, 03 Jul 2009Can someone explain to me the 65k resolution? Why the Samsu... moreThe HD uses a different screen than the II, it's got a completely different aspect ratio and resolution.
And yes, it's true that WinMo only supports up to 262k (So no 16M) colours.

I currently have a Omnia i900 & a Nokia N82 (better camera) the problems with OS are as followed.
Apple Iphone - No God Dam FM Radio & only a 3.1 megapixel camera.
Android - So far it’s the hardware that lets it down waiting to see what Samsung i7500 camera & video is like before judgment.
Symbian – No Flick scrolling on anything apart from web browser & no Word correction / Suggestion in messaging, (like Android & Win Mobile)
Win Mobile – 6.1 & 6.5 looks like 6.0 for messaging, Calendar, Media player which is ugly & none finger friendly.

L00k_C, 03 Jul 2009Can someone explain to me the 65k resolution? Why the Samsu... moreYou already answer your own question.
Windows Mobile all version only support up to 65K color. (Not sure yet whether windows mobile 7 will support more color or not).
i8910HD (no longer name OmniaHD) is base on Symbian, that the reason it support up to 16M color.

Can someone explain to me the 65k resolution? Why the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD has 16M? Isn't it the same screen? Furthermore I heart that windows OS CANNOT support the 16M colours by its nature. Is this true? Thats why HD supports 16m. it has SYMBIAN OS!!!

pathetic truely pathetic. Maybe you'd be an "iSheep" if you got rid of your WM device realizing it's the poorest OS and UI of any smartphone. Symbian, MAC os and Android tear it... You people are just arrogant that you have nothing to say other than insults and MP, it really is just pathetic. Not all phones are for everyone, but don't brand people because they like a phone more than yours as well as it being infinitely times more popular... Grow up

I am loving the specifications of this phone.
I would feel a lot better if it had more megapixels.
I know people say that 5 Megapixels is more than enough for amateurs for point & Shoot. But I feel that if I am getting a phone which can be considered top-of-the-line, might as well be top-of-the-line in all departments.
Also, the screen colour doesn't sit right with me. Eventhough it's AMOLED screen, it only is limited to 65K colours?I understand it's partly because it's using the WinMo OS. But, they should've worked around that by now. The new OS should've foreseen and accounted for 16M colours capability. I guess I'll have to put all my hopes on the Sony Satio for now then since it seems like the most well-rounded phone on the market currently...
