Analyst: Three new iPads to be launched this spring, none smaller than 9.7"
In a stagnant tablet market, Apple may be launching a total of three new models come spring, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts. AppleInsider has obtained the note sent out to investors on Sunday detailing the possible developments in the Apple tablet lineup.
12.9-inch iPad ProFirst of all, the 12.9-inch behemoth of a tablet iPad Pro is getting a replacement, and alongside it a newly-designed 10" or 10.5" model will be launched. Both of them will be powered by an improved version of the iPhone 7 A10 chipset, and history is any indication, it'll be called A10X. That chip should be manufactured by TSMC.
The third model, the analyst continues, will be a 9.7-inch one running on a modified version of the A9 chip from the iPhone 6s, to be made by Samsung. This particular model will also be the one that will sell the most units, to the tune of 50 to 60% of the total sales of all three.
There's no successor to the 7.9-inch iPad Mini 4 in sight.
