Lenovo Z5 stock gone in minutes as it tops JD best seller list

Vlad, 12 June 2018

Lenovo Z5 debuted last week, following an extensive teaser campaign that unfortunately didn't quite align with the final product. Despite what the Chinese company's marketing had us believe initially, the Z5 has a notch, and while its bezels are slim, the press renders are still rather deceptive.

None of this seems to have mattered to eager Chinese consumers, who bought the phone like there was no tomorrow. Hence, the first sale on JD.com, China's biggest online retailer, lasted only a few minutes.

What's more, the Z5 climbed to No.1 of JD's best selling handsets list for the day, surpassing the Honor Play, Xiaomi Mi 8 and Apple iPhone X.

It's definitely a triumphant debut for Lenovo's latest, and its success can easily be explained by the mix of decent specs with a great price. It starts at CNY 1,299, which is about $202 or €171 at the current exchange rates.

For that amount of cash you get a 6.2-inch 1080x2246 LCD touchscreen, a Snapdragon 636 chipset with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage. There are dual cameras on the back and an 8 MP selfie snapper. The phone is kept chugging along by a 3,300 mAh battery, and the software employed is Android 8.0 Oreo underneath ZUI 4.0.
