Samsung already has a successor to the Galaxy Watch Active and it has just been spotted going through the FCC. In the documents, a few photos of the device show where the FCC ID is found, hidden in the settings.

The device carries the model number SM-R830 and pertains to a 40mm watch body. Based on the sketches, there will be another stainless-steel version of the watch. It is believed there will also be a larger 44mm variant and perhaps another with LTE support.

All we can tell from the photos is that the Watch Active 2 will be visually similar to the Galaxy Watch Active. We can also see Samsung’s One UI laid over Samsung’s own Tizen OS, which powers Samsung’s smartwatches. We also see 4GB of storage in the interface.

Although it isn’t something we can tell by the images above, it is believed that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will feature a touch-sensitive bezel that would effectively succeed the rotating bezel on last year’s Galaxy Watch.

Earlier this week, the Galaxy Watch Active 2’s full spec sheet also leaked (along with official renders), revealing a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED screen on the 40mm and a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED screen on the larger 44mm one. Both are protected by Gorilla Glass DX+ and have display resolutions of 360x360px.

Both will be powered by the same Exynos 9110 that powers the Galaxy Watch Active and there will be 768MB of RAM on the Bluetooth variant while an LTE variant might have 1.5GB of RAM. The 40mm will have a 247 mAh battery while the larger 44mm gets a larger 340 mAh one. The new watch is also rumored to feature Bluetooth 5.0.

The Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ are going to be unveiled on August 7 in New York City and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is expected to make an appearance as well.
