Galaxy S24 users are facing Android Auto issues with some cars
As almost every Android Auto user can attest, the convenience feature tends to be fiddly even in the best of times. Especially so if you use the wireless variety. However, some issues are more widespread than others, and many Galaxy S24 users are reporting problems connecting to their cars.
Apparently, the particular compatibility issue is affecting SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen cars, and it is fairly widespread among owners of said cars. The issue is not insignificant either since the affected users are outright unable to connect to their cars via Android Auto.
In a rather encouraging development, however, basically all parties involved have been notified and have taken notice of the issue. Those include Samsung, Google and car manufacturers. According to initial investigations, the trouble lies in the software running on the car’s infotainment systems. It might be connected to how Android handles hotspot IP addresses, but that’s not yet confirmed. Anyway, the affected car manufacturers are apparently already working on a fix. In the meantime, with support tickets mounting, Samsung UK has even gone as far as to create a dedicated support page for the issue. To quote said page:
Some users have reported that they are unable to use Android Auto to connect their Galaxy S24 to their Volkswagen, Skoda, or SEAT cars. If you are experiencing this issue, try the steps below.
If none of these steps resolve your issue, please contact your Volkswagen, Skoda, or SEAT customer centre or service centre. These manufacturers have confirmed that they are working on software updates for the affected vehicles.
The suggested troubleshooting steps are pretty general and include checking your car for Android Auto compatibility and whether it is enabled in settings. Checking your USB cable is also a step, and so is updating software on both the phone and the car sides. The latter might, unfortunately, involve a trip to the dealer. Check the source link for more info if you find yourself in this unfortunate incompatibility situation.
