Google confirms it halted the Wear OS 5 update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2
Google started sending out the update to Wear OS 5 for the original Pixel Watch and the Pixel Watch 2 back in September. However, shortly after the rollout started, a lot of people reported a very nasty issue with these older watches - following the update, the watch would be stuck on a blank screen.
Google listened to all of the reports and halted the update's rollout on September 26, but it only confirmed this today in an announcement on its support pages for the Pixel Watch line.
The company says it plans to resume the Wear OS 5 rollout for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 "later this year", once it's "mitigated the observed issues". That doesn't sound like the re-release of the update is coming anytime soon, unfortunately.
So if you own a Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch 2 and were looking forward to running Wear OS 5 on it, you're still in for quite a wait, it seems.

I got it on both my PW1 and PW2 and it's excellent on both. I've seen no issues, so I'm not even sure what the issues are supposed to be.

Someone at XDA downloaded the update zip before Google took it down. If you really want the update you can sideload it. But proceed at your own risk obviously. Google took the update down for a reason. I have had no issues until now though.
