Amazon introduces Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition with color e-ink display
Amazon sneakily unveiled a total of four new Kindles with the most noteworthy addition being the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition - the first e-reader from the brand to feature a color e-ink display.
It is joined by the second-generation Amazon Scribe which brings several new AI features as well as new Paperwhite and entry-level Kindle models.
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition packs a 7-inch display that features a new light guide with nitride LEDs. Amazon claims will deliver paper-like colors with great contrast. This will be great for reading comics, viewing photos, and highlighting words with different colors.
The new device is also waterproof and offers up to eight (8!) weeks of battery life and wireless charging. Pricing is set at $279.99/€289.99/£269.99 with shipments starting on October 30.
Kindle Scribe (2024)
Kindle Scribe (2024) features a 10.2-inch screen with 300ppi and new AI features. These include the ability to summarize text into bullet points and convert handwritten notes into text.
The new Kindle Scribe gets an Active Canvas which retains book notes when you change the layout or font size. Amazon is now budling its Premium Pen stylus which features a soft tip. Pricing is set at $449.99/€449.99/£429.99 with shipments starting on December 4.
Kindle Paperwhite (2024)
Kindle Paperwhite gets a 7-inch e-ink panel with a new oxide thin-film transistor bringing an improved contrast ratio for sharper text. Amazon’s best-selling e-reader also gets 25% faster page turns and is fully waterproof.
Pricing starts at $159.99/€169.99/£159.99 for the standard edition with 16GB storage and goes up to $199.99 for the Signature Edition with 32GB storage and wireless charging.
Kindle (2024)
Amazon’s latest entry-level Kindle is nearly identical to the 2022 model but with faster page-turns and 16GB storage. Pricing is set at $109.99/€119.99/£104.99.

The kobo also has a 7 inch colour version and the cheaper 6 inch. Even the 7 inch one is cheaper than the colour kindle.

The new scribe, lacking the ability to annotate PDFs or other documents, is simply a wasted investment.

The basic kindle has only faster page turners? The 16GB was in 2022 edition too.
