Kuo: non-Pro iPhone 16 models are facing underwhelming demand
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are facing underwhelming demand, and Apple has reportedly cut orders by as much as 10 million units between now and the first half of next year, according to the latest report from longtime Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Total iPhone 16 series production for Q4'24 is now expected to gross 80 million units. That’s down from the previous estimate of 84 million, which itself was a decrease from 90-91 million units for the iPhone 15 series last year. The iPhone 16 series production is forecasted to drop to 45 million units in Q1 ’25 and 39 million units for Q2'25.
Kuo also reiterated his pessimistic views on Apple Intelligence as a demand driver for the iPhone 16 series. In related news, Kuo suggests the iPhone SE4 production will tip off in December, with Apple aiming to produce around 8.6 million units of its upcoming budget device between then and Q1 ’25.

I totally get you. The carrier game in America is too strong for less popular brands to stay. Even LG had enough and exited the whole smartphone market.

Prolly because many people dont like the fact that the base and plus models still have a 60hz screen in 2024. 60hz displays are mostly in the midrangers and even some of them, (if not most of them) already have 90-120hz screens.

I'm really jealous. In America our choices are effectively down to Apple, Samsung, Google, Motorola, and maybe OnePlus if you're on T-Mobile. Sony officially gave up on us this year, and last year's 5 series was never sold here either....
