LG Display will invest almost $1 billion in flexible OLED display production

Stefan, 23 July, 2015

LG Display announced that it will invest almost $1 billion in flexible OLED display development. The Korean giant’s division will open a sixth-generation flexible OLED production line in order to better cater to the rapidly growing market.

The new production line is set to begin mass production in the first half of 2017. It will have nearly four times the production efficiency of the currently available conventional production line.

LG’s massive investment will help it develop even more advanced foldable displays, as well as large auto displays. The tech giant will also be able to cater not only to its own flexible display needs, but also those of a number of potential customers, including Apple.
