The Galaxy S7 video review shot entirely on the Galaxy S7 itself

Ivan, 17 March, 2016

Our latest video review is up, focusing on the brand new Samsung Galaxy S7. But what’s more interesting is that we shot it entirely on a second Samsung Galaxy S7. And it turned out great - so here’s why the Galaxy S7 is a superb videography tool that can even fill in for real work tasks.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 isn’t the only phone that can record excellent video quality but it is the only one with an aperture as wide as f/1.7, which allows to keep the ISO as low as possible.

While we mostly filmed the video review by using manual focus we did use Samsung’s Dual Pixel technology too. It’s mind-blowingly fast indeed - it can even give top phase detect systems in interchangeable lens cameras a run for their money. The optical image stabilization did a great job of capturing stable hand-held footage but of course, it still can’t beat the solid tripod when you’re after professional looking camera work.

But there’s more to a good video than just hardware. We’re used to filming our reviews with high-end cameras like the Canon 5D Mark III which offers a higher grade of control over a smartphone. Here’s where Samsung’s Pro mode was a must-use. It makes the shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focus user-accessible. These give you real control over the footage and how it will turn up. An added bonus is the fact that the Galaxy S7 5.1” Super AMOLED screen is a much better viewfinder compared to the Canon 5D Mark III’s 3” LCD.

The Galaxy S7 battery proved reliable too - we shot a lot of video on a single charge. The phone never heated up too badly either.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is quite capable when it comes to video quality. Sure, you can tell that the video wasn’t made with our usual camera but at first glance you wouldn’t say it was shot on a phone either.

The amount of background blur from the Galaxy S7 isn’t quite enough for getting a bokeh-licious background but it’s still impressive for a smartphone.

Stay tuned for our next video review of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - captured with a Galaxy S7 Edge!

and yet, I'm sure, your both happy , and silent, about apples best, an, ooh GOLD 6s from the front, looking like an old generation white plastic looking galaxy s3 with a round home button. Premium eh , gold at the back, with tile grout lines, brok...

lol how to judge its video result then. The video result should be shot with a camera better than the one being judged. Its like i am judging the food which is cooked by myself.
