Best Apps and Games of the Week

Prasad, 21 March, 2016

These are some of the best apps and games of the week.

Wire

Wire is a messaging app with a slick interface. With version 2.0, the app has now gained voice call support so you can now call others on mobile, tablet, or desktop. The app now also features end-to-end encryption of calls and messages, in chats as well as group messages.

LastPass Authenticator

LastPass has released an authenticator app along the lines of Google Authenticator. If you use two-step authentication (and you should) then you will need an authenticator app to generate your one time codes, and that is exactly what it does. The app also lets you login to your LastPass vault by simply approving a notification on your phone, if you use two-step for your vault password, so you don't have to manually enter the code. That is pretty much the only reason to have this app over something like Google Authenticator or Authy.

iOSAndroid

PlayStation Video

PlayStation Video lets you watch all your movies and TV shows that you purchased from the PlayStation Store. Now you no longer need to have a PlayStation to access this content and can do it from any Android device.

Android

Miitomo

Miitomo is the first proper app for mobile from Nintendo, currently available only in Japan. The app isn't exactly a game but more more of a social network where you can create your Mii (or use existing one) and then interact with those of your friends. Your Mii will ask you details about you, which can then be shared with your friends, and vice-versa. You can change the appearance of your Mii to resemble you, and purchase accessories for it using the in-game currency (and purchase more using in-app purchases). You can also share pictures through the app. This probably doesn't sound like much if you aren't part of the Nintendo universe or an adult but if you are neither of those things and currently in Japan you should check it out.

iOSAndroid

Mimpi Dreams

Mimpi Dreams is a fun little adventure game featuring a dog. You solve simple puzzles and manipulate the environments so he can go save his friends. The focus is less on puzzle solving and more on the overall experience.

iOS

Rayman Classic

The original Rayman game is now on Android, after dropping on iOS a couple of weeks ago. It's basically the exact same game (not remastered), but now on your Android device. If you liked it back then you should definitely check it out.

Wilkkid; confirmation that it plays well on a smaller screen too. Did you ever play Pandemonium?

I used to play rayman with my N-gage QD and it was a nice game bro. Very challenging and also there is no problem with the platform since Nokia N-gage has its dedicated controls for this game. =)
