LG G7 One and LG G7 Fit announced, the former with Snapdragon 835

Yordan, 28 August 2018

IFA is starting in Berlin and companies have already begun announcing the devices they will unveil at the conference. LG introduced today the LG G7 One and the LG G7 Fit as an addition to its smartphone portfolio.

The first phone arrives with Snapdragon 835 chipset as part of the Android One program, while the latter has an older processor and likely a more affordable price tag.

LG G7 One

The LG G7 One is the first phone from the G-series with the Snapdragon 835 since LG G6 arrived with the older Snapdragon 821 after Samsung hoarding all the 835s, while the LG G7 ThinQ flagship came with Snapdragon 845.

The new phone has a 6.1” QHD+ FullVision panel. It comes with a notch on top and an extremely high 19.5:9 ratio. The cutout hides the proximity sensor, LED notification light, selfie camera, and the earpiece. There is a slight chin below, and the fingerprint scanner can be found on the back.

There is only one memory combination - 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage with microSD port for up to 512 GB more. Since the phone is on the Android One program, it has stock Android Oreo 8.1 and should be getting Android Pie 9 soon enough.

There is one camera on the back with 16 MP sensor with f/1.6 aperture. The selfie shooter is 8 MP with f/1.9 lens and 80-degree field of view. It is not the widest of angles but is good enough to let more friends into your selfies.

The G7 One has a flagship processor (albeit a year old) and a top-notch screen, pun intended, but LG didn’t cut corners in the other aspects as well. There is Quad DAC, DTS:X, IP68 and MIL-STD 810G compatibility and Quick Charge 3.0 for the 3,000 mAh battery.

LG G7 Fit

The Korean manufacturer reported another quarterly loss in the mobile division, and the new G7 Fit is likely one of the "new competitive models" LG promised to unveil last month. The phone has a less impressive Snapdragon 821 chipset but it keeps the flagship screen seen in the ThinQ and the One variants, along with other premium features.

The G7 Fit has 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, just like the G7 One. There is another version, called LG G7 Fit+ at some markets, which has 64 GB storage, and both arrive with a microSD slot. The company says it can provide up to 2 TB more, but we all know this is just in theory; in practice, there isn’t a microSD card bigger than 512 GB currently on the market.

Quad DAC, water- and dust-proofing are in the G7 Fit as well and the battery is also 3,000 mAh. The phone is not on the Android One program, meaning it might switch from Android Oreo 8.1 to Android Pie a bit later than its One sibling.

All new phones share the physical dimensions of the well-known LG G7 ThinQ. We know that the LG G7 One will arrive in New Moroccan Blue and New Aurora Black, while the LG G7 Fit will be available in New Aurora Black and New Platinum Gray. What we don’t know is pricing and availability which will be unveiled later this week.
