Xiaomi Redmi Y3 appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 625 and 3GB RAM

Michail, 22 April 2019

The Redmi Y3 has been teased for some time now, mainly for its camera prowess which include a 32MP selfie cam. The phone will also come with a textured gradient back panel, dual cameras, and a fingerprint scanner. The release date is already scheduled for April 24 and today we got to learn more about the internals thanks to a Geekbench listing.

The phone will come with the aging Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB RAM. The processor came out back in 2016 and was widely popular with phones like the Redmi Note 4 and even last year’s Redmi Y2. While a newer alternative like the Snapdragon 632 found in the Redmi 7 would fit better for 2019, the older processor suggests that the new Y3 will likely come with a more affordable starting price. The listing also reveals the phone will run MIUI 10 on top of Android Pie.

The new device managed to push out a single core score of 1236 and 4213 on the multi-core test. These results fall in line with the Redmi 7. Another similarity between the upcoming Redmi Y3 and the Redmi 7 is the 4000 mAh battery. According to past speculations, the Y3 was rumored to launch as the Redmi 7 Pro in India but the different processors would suggest otherwise.

Expect more details in two days after the official announcement.

not really desperate, but we think it is unfair to not update the redmi s2 (y2) to pie when the hardware is in fact capable. i mean, i can see that the phone has got the latest features of miui as it was just updated recently to miui 10.3, security p...
