Oppo A79 goes official with Dimensity 6020 SoC and 50MP camera

The Oppo A79 that leaked a few days ago is now official. It's powered by the Dimensity 6020 SoC and runs Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 out of the box. The smartphone has 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage onboard, with the option to expand the storage by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

The Oppo A79 is built around a 6.72" 90Hz FullHD+ LCD with Panda Glass protection. It has a pixel density of 391 ppi and 680 nits peak brightness. Oppo advertises the screen as a Sunlight Display because "you can see every detail, even in bright sunlight." The panel also has Widevine L1 certification, allowing 1080p video streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

The Dimensity 6020-powered smartphone sports three cameras - 50MP primary (Samsung ISOCELL JN1 50MP), 2MP depth (Omnivision OV02B1B), and 8MP selfie. Fueling the entire package is a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W wired charging support.

The rest of the Oppo A79's highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G connectivity, IP54 rating, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone also features dual stereo speakers and has an Ultra Volume Mode "that exceeds the 100% volume level to reach up to 300% for speakers and 200% for earpiece calls."

The Oppo A79 is offered in Mystery Black and Glowing Green colors, with the latter flaunting what Oppo calls a Glowing Feather Design. It's priced at INR19,999 ($240/€225) and is on sale in India through Oppo's official Indian website, Flipkart, Amazon.in, and other retail outlets.
