Xiaomi 14 Ultra could arrive next month, tipster claims

Yordan, 30 January 2024

Xiaomi might launch its 14 Ultra flagship with new camera setup behind a familiar design, revealed a report last week. Today, another leakster suggested the bright f/1.63 aperture might be the real deal, and the phone will see the light of day at the end of February.

The timeframe aligns with MWC 2024 in Barcelona, where we could see the Xiaomi 14 Ultra get revealed alongside the international launch of 14 and 14 Pro. The company already confirmed it will be part of the conference, where it will demo its new home devices, and we also hope to see the Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle.

Variable aperture on the 14 Ultra has been in the rumor mill for quite some time. It is a two-stop lens that toggles between f/1.6 and f/4.0, just like to the 14 and 14 Pro and their f/1.4-4.0 solution. The phone is reportedly coming with an LYT-900 sensor that is a 1”-type platform by Sony.

Xiaomi also certified a camera kit for the 14 Ultra, similar to its predecessor. However, this version might also act as an external battery, dramatically increasing the battery life. We have to wait for the official announcement next month for all details to be confirmed.

I omitted to say that the f-number has an approximately geometric sequence of numbers that corresponds to the sequence of the powers of the square root of 2: f/1, f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22, f/32, f/45, f/64, f/90, f/128, et...

How many f-stop selections does it toggle between?

Hopefully SG gets it first unlike 13 Ultra, after I've purchased Samsung S23 Ultra then release international version.
