Michail, 11 April 2024

ZTE unveiled its Axon 60 Ultra in China today bringing dual satellite connectivity with the ability to make and receive calls and send texts via China's Tiantong satellite system. Axon 60 Ultra will be limited to Chinese government and enterprise markets and will not be available for regular consumers.

ZTE also added a multi-antenna switching algorithm allowing the phone to combine cellular and satellite networks simultaneously for improved data transmission, lower latency, and improved connectivity even in areas with weak cellular coverage.

Axon 60 Ultra also supports 5G-Advanced (aka 5.5G) which is China Mobile’s new high-speed 5G network offering downlink speeds of up to 10Gbps and uplink up to 1Gbps. The other notable bit on the Axon 60 Ultra is the dual-system architecture which encompasses a user mode and kernel mode. The former allows apps to run with limited access for greater system security while the latter gives the OS unrestricted access to hardware resources.

Axon 60 Ultra is built around a 6.78-inch OLED with 1220p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset at the helm paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The back features a 50MP main cam with OIS, alongside a 50MP ultrawide shooter and an unspecified macro lens. There’s a 32MP front-facing camera housed in a punch hole up front. Axon 60 Ultra features a 6,000 mAh silicon carbon battery with 80W wired charging. The device also includes IP68 water and dust resistance.

ZTE did not reveal any pricing or availability details for the Axon 60 Ultra.

ZTE also revealed that it will come with a SD Slot. Where are the "no sd slot, no buy" haters now.

That is why they have the nubia z line for consumers to choose? Perhaps you're stuck in your own hill starving? Hahaha

But having no interest in a phone because it lacks a unique (albeit niche) feature is mind boggling to me.
