Next iPhone SE to feature Dynamic Island, rumor claims
The iPhone SE may not be dead after all. Following an early 2023 report that claimed Apple was done with the affordable line, we heard back in December that the iPhone SE 4 would use the iPhone 14's battery. Previously, we even saw renders purportedly showing the next-gen model with an iPhone XR-like design, complete with notch.
Today a new rumor says there will be no notch on the next iPhone SE, instead Apple choosing to equip it with the Dynamic Island cutout and assorted functionality, first seen in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
You can see what that would look like in the image above. The SE will apparently stick with just one rear camera, otherwise adopting the modern iPhone design. In fact, the new SE could share a lot of its looks with the upcoming iPhone 16. The SE's dimensions will be very close to those of the XR.
Even the source of all this cautions us to take all of it with a pinch of salt, and so that's what we should do. Apple has so far introduced one new SE model every two years, and the latest one dates back to March 2022 - that would imply the follow-up should be arriving next month, but since we've had no substantive leaks about it, we're inclined to think Apple still needs some time to finalize it.
In fact, the next SE might only arrive in 2025, after the iPhone 16 launches this fall. Whenever it lands, it's expected to have a display made by BOE.
