Razor, 24 May 2008You have to use a triband phone outside philippines..this p... moreCorrection: you would only need a triband phone if you're going to the US or Canada. Everywhere else a dual band phone with 1800 MHz frequency would work just fine.

shareef kottakkal, 28 May 2008hi nokia,,, bad bad bad ,,,,,,backup ,,,,,,,,maximum one d... moreYou're very wrong, dude. Either you use your phone excessively (in that case, you'll discover that almost every phone you'll use will have bad battery backup) or a defective battery (probably accidental) was bundled with your unit. My 1208's battery lasts for about a week.

I have this phone since march 2008, No problems until now, battery life is good, I charge only once every week, the sound quality is excellent. It is the perfect phone only for those who doesn't need fancy stuff like games, photo camera, mp3 player.....

@socialbug
I recently purchased a 1208. Overall, a good basic, I repeat: basic, phone.
My take on the 1208...
Pros:
* nice keypad
* above average battery life (approximately 3 days is my definition of average)
* as expected of Nokia --- good build quality and signal reception
Cons:
* for those with big fingers: small keypad
* low volume, specially for message alert tone
* some may find its screen to be too small for them
My unit didn't have the restart problem concerning the right selection key . Probably because it's a newly shipped unit with new firmware installed. Older units having the problem need to have firmware upgrades at a Nokia dealership.

Looks like the problems have been sorted out on this phone with the latest firmware.
I have not turned off the phone once since I purchased it over 2 months ago. I remembered to charge it every few days. I don't use the phone on a daily basis, however.
No complaints. Build quality is great, the kids dropped it a couple of times (on the ceramic floor and the driveway) already fighting over who gets to bring it to mom or dad on the way out the door :D.
This phone is just a phone, nothing else. No thing else. That's ok, because I have a seperate PDA that does everything else that I need and more. I couldn't find a PDA phone that had EVERYTHING I needed (with a decent screen), so here was the compromise. The handsfree is great in the car, no problems hearing the person or the person hearing me.

HI all, this is the first time I am writing my opinion on my phone here.
I read the opinions and bought this phone 2 days ago. Like mentioned earlier it has few bugs like, going to "go to" will restart the phone and the battery lasts just for a day with minimal usage.
Will firmware update help resolve both these problems ?
some one please answer, thanks in advance...

Go To function is like a "favourite" function. You can put specific menus on "Go To" so you can have quick access to them by only pressing the right key. Go to "Settings" -> "Right selection key settings." Then it won't be hard to figure out how it works. Good luck!

For those facing the 'Go to'problem and other bugs, upgrade your phone firmware at the Nokia Care Centre and the bugs will be resolved. Simple solution for a simple phone.
Cheers!
PS: maybe can find some way to stick this remedy at the top of posting so that other users could stop asking the same question ;p
