13, 15 Dec 2010What is voice leakage ?Actually it is not a sound leakage or something. It is one speaker for the ringtone and voice call. The speaker is in the back so whenever you call someone the other guy will hear it clearly than you. This is not good set stay away from this.

1) The person you're talking to is a loud mouthed "cell yell" practitioner. "HELLO! CAN I SPEAK TO..."
2) Your mistress calls while you're still in bed with your wife beside you.
Normal usage under normal circumstances, it is not a problem... unless you want it to be.

I like the keypad its easy to type in. Good to know theres no issue with the new version coz thats what I have. I just had the unit today and the nokia store here in market2x is selling it for 998 pesos only. reasonable price with an exceptional feature. Its a bit heavier too... which gives you a feeling that its durable. I don't really care if its colored or not but I noticed that most nokia phones have problems with battery life. I compared it with my samsung E2120 which lasts longer compared to nokia 1280 specially if I'm listening to FM.
If there anything i don't like about 1280. It would be the included accessories,m It doesn't include a headset which you need to buy for around 400 pesos. I mean whats the use of FM? It won't work if you won't hook up an antenna on it so since its not included on the box then you have to purchase it, In which will cost you 998(phone) + 400 (headset) = 1,398.00 pesos In which I think is unfair because The price of colored ones like 1616 and 1800 varies between 1,400-1,500 pesos only. Not to mention both has an included headset on it.
I just don't feel its right. So I hope they'll include one next time.

but this phone r... moreI did some back reading and apparently some users also reported the issues you mentioned. It has also been suggested that earlier firmware versions may be to blame. My Nokia 1616 also suffers from the signal/network loss issue.
Fortunately, my 1280 running on firmware V 0.5.80 (check your firmware: *#0000#) exhibits no such problems. Either I got real lucky, or the newer units with new firmware no longer have this issue.

well, at a price of around 1000 its good.
but this phone really has VERY BIG defect. the network drops down and the fone restarts itself.

Had this phone for nearly a week and so far I've been very satisfied with its performance. Software is version 05.80 and currently no problems to report.
Compared to my other Nokia basic phone, the 1616, this is definitely much better to use. The keypad is a joy to press compared to the 1616. Tactile response is excellent and the keys are spread out just right.
LCD is legible even under direct sunlight. And the white backlight is comfortable to view at night. Better IMO than the earlier yellow light Nokia used for their monochrome phones. Fonts are a throwback to the 5110 and 3210 era so text is legible and very easy to read.
Response time is also excellent with no lag or delays noted. Those infuriated by delays in texting (example: you're typing one word ahead of you're phone's display) will be pleased by the 1280's performance. This is no laggard like those old Sony Ericssons, you can text as fast as you can with no delay whatsoever.
The FM radio is quite adequate with excellent sound both using headphones and with the loud speaker. Don't expect thumping bass output though. Think: 70s transistor radio. I did notice though that using the FM radio does tend to drain the battery faster than I expected.
If you need a colored LCD phone with bluetooth, GPS, a memory card and a microwave oven, then look elsewhere. Need a basic phone? Then look no further.

it is not working properly.sometimes it switch off and switch on 4 to 5 times itself. network coverage problems. speaker problems.not at all good to buy it

Updated my 1280 to v5.80 still sfter texting it goes back to the main screen.
