I think this is a good simple phone incomparison to nokia old mono black mobile phones like 1200,1202,etc
It's cost is also low i.e.,Rs.1150/- only

.. the speakers behind it, although its quite adequate it also unwittingly "broadcast" your conversations, you can actually hear clearly the voice of the person on the other end..

good cellphone, sturdy and compact,the flaws starts when in handsfree mode the mic doesnt pick up your voice very well..and it ends up being choppy.
furthermore the back panel that holds up the battery may become loose in time.

My SMS and incoming calls are working again! My telco reactivated my phone services and they are now working good. I thougt it was an issue with Nokia 1280.
Anyone knows how much is the stereo headset for Nokia? I hope its less than 10usd (half the price of the Nokia 1280 phone itself)

My phone firmware is at 4.20. I read that there is already a 5.80. Haven;t tried the 5.80 yet, but from the changelog, there are 70+ bugs fixed.

Something weird happened today! I cant send SMS, it errors with Message Sending Failed, and when someone calls my mobile, it shows CALL, it does not show the PHONE NUMBER of the person calling. I thought my unit is damaged, i changed my sim and it works ok. I tried the other sim on a different phone and it gives same error. Im thinking its a SIM problem or a network problem.
Did my nokia 1280 damaged my SIM?

i have one as back up phone. Good keyboard and above average battery life, strong signal, so cheap at only 21 usd.
For voice leakage problem simply turn down the talking volume or turn your phone 180 degrees around. Because of its simplicity and cheap price i recommend this phone.

Hi All
I am using this model from 4 months.
Issues: Phone speaker and Ringtone speaker are same so, when u talk all nearby plps can hear ur conversion and its echo.
Solution: Please block the backside Speaker holes from any tiny tape, everthing will be fine even echo will not be there. But ringtone volume will low

I just bought this unit and it costs Php1150 in the Philippines (around 26usd). Firmware is at version 4.20, I have read that there is now a new firmware version 5.80. Anyone tried the new firmware?
Here's what I can say about the unit -
PROS
a. Keypad is big. I like it because my thumbs are big and it makes texting very easy.
b. Monochrome display for the retro look! Im 29 years old and it is nice to reminisce the good old days.
c. 3.5mm jack. I was trying the FM radio but it asks that it needs enhancement. I tried a Php100 (around 2usd) headset/mic combo lying around the house I use for skype and it works on the nokia 1280! I can also use the headset for making calls.
d. Simplicity of features. Cellphones should be able to call and text. FM function is a plus. I dont need a camera phone because I already have a PNS digital camera. I dont need a wifi phone because I already have a laptop with decent specs.
CONS
a. Earpiece volume is low. Not a major issue, I can use a headset.
b. Echo when call volume is set too high.
c. Voice leakage but not a major concern for me. I can use a headset.
d. Ringtone volume is low, even when set at maximum volume. Maybe firmware 5.8o fixes issue?
Overall I am satisfied with this unit. I bought this unit because I lost my samsung m150 and this is the most affordable phone for the features that I need.
