Nokia 1600 is for those who want a basic and user friendly phone. You can really complain for such a price. You can't expect so many good features for this price. Bear this in mind 1600 is a basic good communication gadget.

The Nokia 1600 is a smash hit in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The rIngtones are fine and the piece is smooth.

I was read on www.nokia.com, it said there is no cable data for Nokia 1600, so why did they put a port below it? The port looks like on http://www.mobilmania.cz/Article/BigImgGSMNew.asp?path=%2FFiles%2FObrazky%2Fart18%2FNokia_1600&file=%2F31.jpg

So please tell, me what is that port can use to if there is no Original Cable for Nokia 1600?

I got one as a free unit when I subscribed for Sun Cellular, here in the Philippines. I must admit that Nokia has done a great job in making the phone more responsive in such a small package. It is a big improvement from my old Nokia 6610 in terms of screen refresh, ringtone quality and keypad response. The speakerphone is amazingly loud and clear, and I am satisfied with its battery life.

However I find the claustrophobic menu very annoying. Imagine using SMS with a tiny three-liner display (two-liner in large mode)! And no calendar! the chinese lunar calendar is chinese only and I wouldn't be able to use it. The talking clock is just that: a talking clock. It works. And where is the infrared? They should have provided a cable or something so it can be synced with a computer or another phone.

If you want a really cheap colored phone where you can call and send SMS, then this is for you. If you want a simple and chic phone for your day to day life and you're happy with a small display go and buy it now. If you find it really cute then come and get it!

I'm going to see if I can replace this with a Sony Ericsson J210 tomorrow. It has a bigger and brighter screen, a calendar, and it has infrared. I don't need the loudspeaker anyway because I can buy a handsfree kit at a nearby shop.

It's perfect for me... I have had lots of cameraphones, and I conclude that you don't need all those stuffs in one phone. For me, it's very practical.

                        :.

                        1. If you have a cameraphone with a built-in low resolution/pixel camera, and mp3 player with a very limited capacity, would you be satisfied?

                        2. If the Mp3 player/Camera features in your phone malfunctions, would you still be liking your phone? Are you sure you want to keep it like that forever?

                        3. So what's with downloading lots of ringtone? Are the listeners be the one who'll answer your phone?

                        4. In every multimedia phone, something is always missing... could it be what you wanted? When all you need from a phone is calling and texting.

                        5. I don't know about the other countries, but here in the Philippines, there are lots of hold-uppers and snatchers, so this phone won't give you much pain when it got snatched/robbed, because you could always afford to buy another one.

THe Nokia 1600 is not a phone for trend trolls. If you want a phone with everything on it (stuff that you will not use anymore after a week or so, anyway) don't look at this one. It is a phone for those who believe that a certain device should do one thing really well, not everything in a mediocre way.
The display is good enough for a simple phone, eve if it is not garganteous or picture displying worthy (even if it could display pictures). The one thing that makes me happy is that the screnn is extremely fast.
The reception is fantastic. I have never had a phone that gets full strength signal or at least 4/5 anywhere i go.
The ringtones are extremely loud at max volume so it is not a problem to hear it ring and most of them are really enjoyable.
As far as standard media the 1600 is pretty well stocked up having enough ringtones to keep anyone satisfied and enough themes to not be boring.
The in-call sound is quite good, meaning i do not have problems discerning words and can even make out whispers. I cannot fault it in any way for the way conversations are heard. Also the loudspeaker is very good and clear.
Most of all i love the fact that it is small and light emough to not be a nuissance for my pocket while i'm out and about. All in all it's an excellent phone for those who want to have a good phone and also own a good digital camera and a good mp3 player (as opposed to someone who wants all these poorly integrated into a phone)
