Got this phone a couple of days ago. So far I'm quite satisfied with its basic functions, which is what I was looking for in the first place. If you need a no-nonsense mobile that can make calls and send SMS, then this is your phone.
There are however a couple of counter intuitive things about this phone which I think would-be buyers should be made aware of. They're not deal breakers but they might prove an annoyance to some.
1) Upon receiving a text message, reading it and pressing "options", a list appears first of which is the option: "delete"! Shouldn't it be "reply" first? Having "delete" as the first choice in the list of options, opens a big possibility of accidentally deleting the message. Very counter intuitive!
2) Unlike previous Nokia units, the 1616 always saves a copy of your sent messages. This annoyed me to no end on Sony Ericsson phones and I'm disappointed to find out that there is no way to manually override this function on this Nokia! None!
3) In "Contacts" both the SIM and phone numbers are listed. There is no option to choose either one. Its kinda annoying seeing "duplicates" in your phone book. Of course they're not really duplicates in the true sense of the word, but they're still there. A solution would be to delete a set (phone or SIM) which is not really advisable. Once again, no way to manually override this.
4) The instruction manual is next to worthless. Sure this is a basic phone with basic features, but would it kill them to explain some salient points in the security function? I had to guess the security code on one occasion. And how exactly does one use the "Spreadsheet" function? Sure you'll eventually figure it out, but what's wrong with explaining them in the user's manual?
Like I said, the points I raised may not be deal breakers for some (most?), I just felt bringing them up might to help others make an informed decision.
Hope this helps.

It looks like the old E50 & E51. Don't how its going to success in asian market. Also 3.5mm jack will not make much difference in basic segments.

Assalam o allaikum;
It is a cheap in price cell phone, its display & ringtones are better, its FM raduio is also more claer. it has a good shape. its key pad is a bit too sfot (perhaps better for the ladies), its voise communication is very soothing & desired, its flash light like other phones is a bit too small.
over all I likes it,
