Nokia 1661 is meant for simplistic. You can talk, send sms, listen to Radio(has earphone), use a torchlight, organize yourself with calender, be alert with alarm, chat with a person who you like and a decent spreadsheet to organize your expenses.
Battery life is good and voice is clear.
Approx Rs.1650 in Indian market.

Well,i have this phone, for over 2 weeks, and i think i must buy a new one, is so difficult to SMS, or call because the keyword is not perfect, and the material of this phone is very bad,price is quality, for only 40 USD/or 400.000 Indonesia rupiah, is not worthy.

Evan, 20 Sep 2009Hey! the same thing happened to me which was the third and ... moreHi everyone. I bought this mobile some while ago for the foremost reason that I like a simple one. I am fed up with mobiles with cameras, memories for mp3s etc. So, I had to look for something simplistic. So, before going to buy it, I had to look for reviews online, everywhere and frankly speaking, from what I read, be it on this website or eleswhere, I could have been discouraged to buy it from many negative comments I came across. Let me tell you that they are all wrong!!! I don't see how the reviewers could come across so many problems as personally I didn't come across any of them. So, let me tell you the specifications and their relevant feed backs.
Messaging: Simply superb. You can type in up to 918 characters at one go and you have the dictionary available, but personally I don't use it, so I can deactivate it.
Keypad: While looking at pictures online before buying it, I thought to myself that it would be very difficult to use those keypads especially that I text a lot and I mean it. Folks, they keypads are simply incredibly responsive, meaning you can text in your messages really fast. For those having Xtra Large fingers, it will be a problem though :D
Applications: You can put in your alarm, programme it for the whole week continuously. Only one alarm time can be set though contrary to some other mobiles on the market where you can insert alarm for different times of the day.
The reminder's option works the same way as any other nokia mobiles, meaning you put in your reminder's details, time and date; that's all.
The battery life is long and it gets recharges really fast!
The tones available are limited though, but enough for someone looking for a mobile mobile and using it only for texting and calling. Personally I only use vibration outside the house; so it's really not an issue for me.
The only problem that I see is that compared to Motorola mobile, you have the option at a go to just choose vibrate only, or sound only or both. But on this you have to lower the ring tone completely to cut the sound and have to put vibration off if you want to to use only sounds. But all this can be resolved by using the profile option though.
Also, the messages in your inbox aren't numbered; so on a practical view point, it's not a problem, but if someone stores above 100 sms in the inbox and want to locate a particular sms, that will be a problem. So, again it's not a major issue if you don't store sms so long to review again and again.
Regarding the radio, you will have your ear piece that you can use for calling too if you're driving. The sound quality is very good (for radio listening and calling).
I think that's all I can comment upon. Overall, I am satisfied with the mobile and frankly I'm impressed owing to the prejudice I had pertaining to it after having read all the comments on the mobile. Like I said above, I like simple mobiles without complication. I use them only for texting and calling, so really it is simply worth it and for its price it's damn good. I advise people to BUY
