To Nokia 1680,
do we need to unlock the phone to make the USB cable working??
or just need to install the Nokia PC suite and USB driver to computer??

This is a great phone, so don't listen to anyone that tells you it's crap!
Get the cable for the '1200' and make sure you get the correct drivers - this is important -

I checked and tried several USB ports and got a range of COM4, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 and not once did PC Suite see a phone.
I waited about 10 minutes between connecting and disconnecting.
System settings recognises the cable.
Do you see anything changing on the phone screen when you connect?
Perhaps Nokia disabled the ability to connect in my firmware..
Perhaps I have a faulty cable..
Perhaps I'm still doing something wrong..
any other ideas?

It is a agreat phone.I being a very casual person, its size so right for my jeans pockets. i love taking loooong walks by my self and a radio would make it even more atractive!!!

this phone is one of the best nokia phone i bought in my life!!!i absolutley love it!!!i suggest every one to buy this phone!!take a contract with any service provider!!!i bought it with cellc!!!

Sorry I don't have my driver CD with me today, but the file I used was an EXE file in the root directory of the CD with a filename beginning with the words "Driver Installer" followed by a number that I can't remember. After you install this driver, can you try plugging the cable into a USB port, and see if the cable appears in the Windows Device Manager under the "Ports" category? The Device Manager entry for the cable should indicate which COM port number it uses, so that you can enter this port number in the CA-42 Serial Cable settings (in the PC Suite software under Settings / Manage Connections). For me, the cable used a couple different COM port numbers depending on which USB port I used on the computer, but I found that COM5 worked best for me, so now I always use the USB port that gives me COM5.
Once you have the COM port set correctly in PC Suite, you can plug the cable into the phone. For some reason, PC Suite doesn't always immediately recognize the phone when you plug it it. You might need to wait a few minutes after plugging the cable into the phone, or try plugging an unplugging the cable in the phone a few times, until you see the balloon with the words "Nokia 1680c-2b connected via serial cable" above the PC Suite tray icon.
