I bought this phone about three days ago, as a backup phone to my K700i. The Pros:- (1) Cheap cost (2)Cool Design (3)Excellent Ringtones (4)Good size keypad, especially for thick fingers (5) good battery life (4 to 5 days) The CONS:- (1) the charging signal are not visible when is the phone is being recharged while off. May be this my phone specific problem. (2) the four way navigation key is a little on the loose side and I hope after some time it does not come off. Will keep posted of any news. VERDICT:- VERY GOOD AS A BASIC PHONE.

The design of 2600 looks much better than 3100 and 3120 but unfortunately it does not have MMS, GPRS and Speakerphone.
I am very puzzled why can't nokia just integrate this basic functions into this phone. Having a color phone but you cannot download the picture you like on the screen is useless.
I am also confused why all the new latest Nokia symbain phones ie: 6670, 7610, 6630, etc have bluetooth but no more infrared, unlike 6230 which have both plus radio, etc...have this, no that, what is all this about...pls enligten me. Thank you very much.

I currently have two mobile Phones as I have two sim cards (Virgin Mobile for free Voicemail & O2 for 300 free texts a month - both pay as you go). I have the brilliant Nokia 6610i which despite the lack of Bluetooth & a average camera has an excellent battery life (3 Weeks to be precise).
The second phone I used to have was a very batter Nokia 3410. So I decided to upgrade the phone yesterday (27/12/2004) to the Nokia 2600. Although it doesn't have many features it is exactly what I want for a second phone. I don't need all of the exact same features again for a phone which I will mainly have for emergencies (I.e. the other phone runs out of battery life or Credit).
If you are looking for a nice, simple, compact(although it isn't too compact) mobile phone then I suggest this. If you live in the UK you can currently get this at the Carphone Warehouse for £69.99 that includes a new O2 sim (otherwise £100 sim free)
I'm glad I purchased this as my second phone as opposed to the 2100 or 1100

I fully agree! Nokia enjoys making profit by producing simple, plastic fones but easy to use and unfortunately at an expensive price (not worth the value to buy)..

No java, bluetooth, internet, camera (well.. far), infrared, radio, just only 200 phonebook entries and many more unavailable features.. The good side is only a color screen which is not much of a use but great for wasting the fone battery. For an additional 100 bucks with this fone price, you can get get a stunning fone such as the mighty SE T610 and Nokia 3200..

I have recently purchased the Nokia 2600. A great phone for making and receiving calls and sending and receiving SMS. A suitable choice for those not looking for camera and all those other sophisticated things. The Nokia 2600 has a colour screen, it's user friendly and feels comfortable to use and to hold. And it's a bargain from Vodafone stores @ $129. Phone is unlocked!!
