2690 is as good as it can be. mine is black one ABOUT 5 MONTH OLD. i got it in Rs. 2750 from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
Build: the color of its back panel is as same as the color around navi key. white looks sizzling. keypad is anti dust but a bit hard. typing SMS is not a breeze here. but its ok if we consider its sturdy build quality. card slot, micro USB port are enough protected. feels solid in.
Speakers: good but not great. ringtones are loud. songs are of medium loudness. 2690 gives good result only & only when you use audio files with bitrates above 128.
Music: great through headset. plug in Philips headphones & feel the music. headphones provided in sales box are decent, produce nice music. no equalizer. music player automatically collect all audio files in the phone. no folder play. you can create playlist. videos also played in the same player.
Videos: i converted movies to 3GP & they played superb in landscape mode. without any lag.
Camera: just take care of lighting condition & despite being just VGA, it produce good result. after tweaking them a little with Google Picasa software, i used them on Facebook. looks great.
Memory: internal is 25 MB & 8 GB supported. i am using 4 GB card. my card is 3.6 GB full with songs & videos & still 2690 is running like wind.
User Interface: based on S40, its fast & responsive. you can use thousands of themes available for free on internet with .nth extension. as 2690 equipped with MIDP 2.1, you can use thousands of java softwares.
Internet: I m using reliance GSM sim. surfing is a joy ride. opera renders web pages fast. it opens full web page within 5-10 seconds. But when connection signal is low, automatically speed gets reduced & takes about a minute for opening full websites. mobile version of websites opens instantly. icing on the cake, browser have a landscape & full screen mode. It do play you tube videos. Flash player required for that. I m trying to find some way to play youtube videos. i downloaded Mp3 songs with average download speed of 20 Kbps from www.desiweb.net. ovi mail, accuwhether, nokia mobi, facebook is inbuilt. You can get mail in your inbox from gmail, yahoo or other using Ovi mails. Also IM is there in the inbox. With nokia mobi you can send, browse files upto 10 GB from any mobile or computer.
Call: it shows call summary & call duration during the call.
USB: work as data storage, PC suite. fast data transfer.
Bluetooth: fast data transfer. A2DP lets you enjoy music using Bluetooth headset.
Battery: good. after charging to full i used it for exact 3 hours before 2690 started giving low battery MSG, with continuous web surfing, listening songs in background & about half hour of call.
Battery backup? even when i am roaming with friends, after showing me low battery message, it never drained out for next 3 hours with about half hour of talk. it just show low battery msg after every 10 minutes. in normal usage it can go for 2 days.
Its really value for money handset! GO FOR IT !

i bought it and found that mic is not working.sms receive time is not set.no 3gp. camera result not good.design and look is good but by features worst set ever made by nokia
