Anonymous, 05 Aug 2009bro..have u ever read d booklet provided with any handest..... moremaybe you shd read again...there is no info on initial charging on any nokia handsets booklet.
yeah i know abt the crap that shopkeepers tell you abt initial charging...first learn abt how Li-ion/poly batteries work...the initial charging was true in case of older batteries. modern Li-ion batteries comes with auto power off..so as soon as the battery is full its cuts off the power.
another thing abt Li-ion is that its not wise to fully drain it..its always best(for performance and life) to charge it before its reaches below 33%. older Ni based batteries gave best result when charged after getting fully drained...but for li-ion its different.

Even with the newest of batteries, you must still give them a 100% complete charge the first time. It may not require a full 24 hour period, but at least 12-14 hours (however 24 hours is recommended by most manufacturers). This is due to the chemicals in the battery and the reactions of those chemicals during their first charge. The initial charge will directly affect the capacity of the battery. Not fully charging the first time can lead to the battery prematurely going bad or giving less and less talk time/standby time.
From personal experience, I haven't noticed much of a decrease in battery life from a 12 hour charge vs a 24 hour charge. But batteries I have only given a 3 or 4 hour charge initially have had a 30-40% decrease in capacity over the course of about 6 months.

u have used you... morecharge for 12hrs?? its a Li-ion battery not an NiMH one.
Li battery doesnt need any initial extra charging...anyways battery backup could increase with usage.

suresh, 05 Aug 2009the guy who was saying 2 days usage battery with 1.5hrs tal... moredude there is no prbolem with your phone..
u have used your phone extensively...let the battery be zero then u will knw bout its performance...
the phones battery improves with usages..u shud charge ur phone fr 12 hrs for the very first time...then charge it only when the battery is dwn n remove chargin as it completes...
jst becoz its ur new phone u r playing with it,,,
u will see d diff in a day or two...

the guy who was saying 2 days usage battery with 1.5hrs talktime and 2 hours of music.......
whether you listen to the music on headphone or on the loudspeaker. did you use any camera?
i bought the cell yesterday but my battery backup is not proving to be enough. i charged my phone to the fullest yesterday. till this time i have listened to 1 hr and 50min of music. 1 hr. on loudspeaker, 50 min on headphone, took 10-15 pictures using camera, 5-10 min talktime, 10mb bluetooth transfer, 20 min of gaming only and my battery is showing 2 out of 4 lines in just 12 hours of usage. what can be the possible problem? can it be problem with the battery or set? or this usage is alright... please do reply

hi this is a very nice mobile its the 1st nokia mobile i m usning which is using a bug free software . i m not facing any kind of hanging or restarting problem its a very good mobile. its battery also lasts for 4 days .
