moto143, 03 Aug 2009the keys are not hard. but the keypad is small. The keys are... moreWell i have slim fingers so i think i'l be ok then ;)..
yet another thing, the videos i saw of this phone on youtube like this one for instance, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yl5Jn_pblQ, the phone has 'nokia maps' installed. I thought this application can only be used with GPS enabled phones, whats the use of it being installed on a non GPS phone like the 2700c?

the keys are not hard. but the keypad is small. The keys are held too close to each other so it becomes a bit difficult to compose a quick sms.

One more issue, how are the buttons to the touch, do they have a good tactile feel or are they hard?

It's a sturdy mobile..doesn't look like a cheap plastic one and the silver lining does look as if it will last a few years.
as far as build quality is concerned it's definitely a good buy.

UPDATE: to the guys who were asking about the battery backup.Well, i got 2 days of battery life. This included 2 hours of voice calls, typed 100 text sms, 15 mins of browsing, half an hour of music and video and Radio. clicked few pictures and recorded video.
I believe the backup is pretty impressive. One can expect 3 to 4 days of backup easily under normal usage.

moto143, 03 Aug 2009@Suresh
well, the sound quality is just average. changin... moreOk now i'm using 5130XM....i read moto143 saying 2700 do not give good bass with creative headphones...which could be true as its not a music phone and lacks a dedicated audio chip.
I'm using philips SHH9700 headphones(similar to EP-630, maybe a bit better) with my 5130 and the audio quality is just superb. Sometimes I feel its even better than my pc which uses a Realtek HD audio card.
The bass is deep and tight and the treble is awesome and a nice balanced mids. The sound is well balanced across all frequency range.
People who are looking for a music phone should seriously consider buying 5130XM...however the supplied headphone is same as that of 2700 and its crap...
Only buy 5130 if you can afford to buy a decent quality headphone which would cost INR700-1400. Otherwise you just wont notice its awesome sound quality...and its a waste to spend money on 5130 without the proper headphones to listen to.

Well, i have been noticing the comparisons between 5130 and 2700 classic here. There is no point in comparing these mobile because they are aimed at different audience altogether. 5130 is a music phone with dedicated keys meant for music enthusiastic people. Nokia 2700 C is not a replacement or alternative of Nokia 5130 but it's definitely a replacement of successful nokia 3110classic and there is a price difference of 1,000 Rs too( ~20$)
so it's a low end phone which does most of the things well and has lot's of features in it. I don't think there is a mobile which offer's 2 mp camera, 1GB card, 2 inch screen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, radio for 4800 Rs(~100$).

@Suresh
well, the sound quality is just average. changing the settings in equalizer helps a bit but will not make a significant difference.. I have even tried to listen to music using a creative headphone. The quality is satisfactory. music is clear but it lacks bass. If you need music quality then look at Sony ericsson mobile in this range. SE W350 comes in your range..
But the only advantage you will get with W350 is excellent music and headphones while the screen, reliability and features cannot be matched with Nokia 2700 classic.
Evaluate your needs a choose the mobile wisely. If you just need Music and extremely cool looks then consider Sony w205 too. Else W350.

compared to 5130 one bad thing is that it doesnt have dedicated music keys or external volume keys and it doesnt come with a usb cable...which is quiet irritating when u r listening to music
and music is loud like the local china sets..and no bass effect which al nokias lack..i got it for 5.1k in bangalore nokia priority..3 days back..
rest of the things lik battery backup and features..no doubt its one of the best phones for tat price..

thanks for your reply moto143. i want to know one more thing. what is your saying on the sound quality of this phone?
i have listened to mp3 songs in 2700 in a shop in chandigarh. but i feel that its sound is too much noisy and not crystal quality while i was listening to mp3 songs. what is your say on this? or whether the sound will become clear after doing settings in the equaliser.
please reply i want to buy a phone today in 4000-5000 range
