        @Rba,

        dude, symbian os is a consortium of mobile phone companies and nokia is the major shareholder with 47.9% the rest is divided into 5 more companies, ericsson, sony ericsson, siemens ag, panasonic and samsung.

        please check this to have more idea of the symbian os. this has nice enough information.

            To All:
            As far as i know about Symbians, Symbian is a software company that is not owned by any mobile company. Meaning, it is an independent company.. Any mobile phone company that wants to use its OS needs to establish a license from Symbian Software Company for a mobile company to use a Symbian OS.. In Nokia, the Series 60, Series 80 and Series 90 are the phones that have Symbian OS. A Series 40 may just run a Symbian Software but it is limited though since it doesn't acquire prior licensing from Symbian. In fact, some SE's and Motorola's already have Symbian OS. Not only Nokia..

              @rob,

              nokia 3110c is still in production. however, i do not know if the next firmware update will support for 4gb memory cards.

              software company of nokia is symbian, so in general all nokia phone is a symbian phone. however only series 60 and above is actually the "symbian os." for series 40, it is mostly refered as nokia series 40 and not symbian series 40.

                  Yes it is possible for you to upgrade the firmware youreself without giving it to anyone from NOkia. Just see Nokia PC suite.

                  Please do message me for any queries on vikasvv@gmail.com. It is not possible to reply everyone on the forum.

                    Hope this isn't a stupid question but if a firmware upgrade becomes available will it be possible to get it for my current phone? Is Nokia still making this phone?

                          Oh, so it is already confirmed that this phone could be infected with a virus?..
                          Too bad.. This phone could be infected with a virus but cannot be installed with the current Anti-virus softwares.

                              To the person below:
                              I think there's something wrong with your phone. Ask Nokia Care about it.. I'm currently enjoying 245 songs in my music player..
                              And about the Nokia Software Updater, that's why your phone won't be recognized by the updater because 3110c is one of the phone models removed from the system of Nokia Software Updater. Check at Nokia's website.

                              P.S. I have already posted about this Software Updater issue before.

                                i have a 1 GB card with my phone . my problem is that i cant seem to put more then 105 songs onto the card through bluetooth nor my connecting the mini usb . Is the music player restricted to to 105 songs ?

                                another problem which im facing is that Nokia Software Updater no longer recognizes my phone . It used to work before .

                                    @ Chester:
                                    The reason why this phone restarts when updating the music library are the corrupted music files.
                                    My advice: When you add new songs to your phone, i recommend you to play the newly added songs ONE BY ONE in the gallery and NOT in the music player directly. It is good to play the songs individually in the gallery because you would identify which music files are corrupted and which files are okay. As soon as you see "file corrupted" when playing a music file in the gallery, then that would serve as an indicator for you to delete that song and make sure you do these steps before you update library or even accidentally updating the library. Because making that updating the library happen even if you aren't finished deleting the corrupted music files in the gallery would surely result to a severe restarting problem. Mine also restarted of i think more than 30 times in just 1 hour, imagine that. But after i did those, my phone gloriously never restarted again.. Hope that helps..
