thanks for the reply, I have one more question what exactly firmware means is it a operating system or some kind of software and is the MP3 player in 3230 is as same as 6600 or engage.

To all new phone owner:
Just want to let you all know that I still find PhotoRite SP as the best photo taking program. Alternately, CameraFX is also ok.
Basically u get the chance to take photos of image size other than the 1.2MP mode apart from having some effects on the pictures.

A lot of site claim that official limit is either 256mb or 512mb. But if u go to almost all popular MMC manufacturer, you will see that 3230 is listed under their 1Gb memory card compliance list.
BTW, I'm currently using Kingston 1Gb MMCmobile (RS-DV-MMC) now. So far so good. I think normal RS-MMC will run without problem too.

The phone only has one speaker. So there's no way to play stereo sound. As for the earphone, both earphone will have the same sound...thus mono playback over left and right earphone. I hope that's clear enough.

This is the best phone ever. Like any other phone, pls have your firmware updated once you got the phone. This is free since the warranty is still in place. After installing any application ensure a restart of the phone is done just like a normal computer. There are a lot of application out there. just google it.
The negative comment are majority posted by people who do not know how to use the phone properly.

I have recently got 3230 from dubai and it is made in germany, still i havent started using it. Its a night mare for me looking the comments on the internet. If there is any specialist of the cellphone let me know how good and how bad the cellphone is....

Please help me clarify this fact:
If a fone is said to be MP3 playback is mono does it mean that sound dont come from both ears of the speaker or ??

Nokia 3230 is a nice phone with nice features.
Pros: Nice ergonomy, design, weight, balance
Nice keypad (no problem with typing as might appear)
Nice reception, voice quality
As a phone its a gem!
Camera is great as well as the display.
Cons: Software not stable... hangs occasionally
Slow... takes years to startup...
Sound quality very poor.
Internal memory is low; only 6 MB
Battery power is average
Overall: Nokia could have excelled in contributing a nice phone to its users only if they had come up with a better software and a good stereo sound chip. Why NOKIA?!

the phone crahsed in 10 days from the date of purchase. do not think to buy it.

4 da' people who want a better quality of the pictures taken with this phone -- use Stoik Cameraphone Enhancer (http://www.stoik.com/stoik_mobile_enhancer) + crack ( http://www.thebugs.ws ); you'll see the difference (that noise in that can appear in your picture will dissapear).

i think that it's a great phone,but i am afraid that it too expensive to me
