It's irritating the way you can't set backlight timer to longer than 15 secs. The screen goes dark in the middle of reading sms's etc.
Then you have to think of a key to press to get the screen to light up again without doing some function :-(
What's the matter with Nokia ?
It would cost nothing to include the option to change duration of light time out.

Hi, I bought de n3230 because I thought it would be a good follow up for the 6600.
I made a mistake. This phone is almost exactly the same as the 3230. Only the FM radio is new(excellent by the way).

When I listened to the mp3 player i was angry. Very very bad quality, exactly the same with Ultra mp3 on the 6600. So, if you are looking for a nice phone, this one is ok but I think you better buy a 6630, because it has UMTS.

long time no post already . what's the latest firmware ? is it out yet ? omg , i read the posts regularly . i saw that small expert keep saying weird things . like our picture taken it's compressed and when sent to computer it looks compressed too . i sent my picture to computer and it really looked compressed . hmm .. i think 3230 is a good phone . no phone is perfect . if there were to be a perfect phone . nobody will change phone again . i think i will change to N91 once it's out . it's a style and nice phone . with good features .

1)U are wrong about the point of setting mp3 as ringtone..
U can set a mp3 file as ringtone that is from the memory card.. Just go to profiles and change from there..
        2) The pictures onli look compressed from the display in the phone.. It will look fine when sent to the computer..
        3) U cannot compare with the 6230 as the 6230 uses the default nokia player while 3230 uses the real player..
If u wan to compare.. u hav to compare it with 7610/6670/6260/6630
        4) Ur phone hangs because u open too many programs.. 3230 has 9mb of ram.. If u exceed, the phone will slow down in processing and will restart.. For symbian phones, u hav to close the application manually as when u press the red call button, the program is still runnning in the background.. Search for appman at yahoo..
This program allows u to close any application and hav great control over the phone...

          my comments:
          1. mp3 files can only be set as message tone if they were in the phone memory not in the memory card. DUHHHHH!!!
          2. pics taken look weird / compressed...
          3. mp3 files sound terrible...i have 6230 ,,,much better
          4. phone tends to hang occasionally / restart without any good reason
          5. my version is v3.0510.0...i bet a new firmware is out

do you guys expect telenor to give EDGE or class 10 GPRS? is it common with service providers in the asian sub-continent.?

If your service provider gives EDGE, your handset will automatically be detected by the network and u can use EDGE. With EDGE , even your MMS works faster and messages of 100 kb are sent within 7-8 seconds.

well, yeah it depends on your service provider. just having a phone which supports EDGE doesnt mean u can use the faster speeds without suscribing to the operator

in the features we see GPRS class 6,class 10 and EDGE. ofcourse the latter are faster but my question is:

does it depend on the cellphone service provider whether we can actually use class 10 or EDGE?
for example, mobilink does not offer GPRS so even by using the best cellphone you cant access internet. but others do like telenor. ofcourse speed would also depend on the quality of service but anyone know that there could be a limitation whereby users of a particular service cant utilise the class 10 or EDGE.

i m concerned bcuz in pak everything is so boringly low-tech.

for the benefit of symbian users:

6230 looks like crap if you have used a symbian phone with much more options and bigger screen. i looked at my friends 6230i and i dont like it a bit, even tho feature wise it is very good. a symbian user would be dissappointed.

                                For correction,
                                6230/6230i runs on series 40 ..
And 3230,6670,7610 runs on symbian series 60

playa, its advisable to compare specs running on the same operating system, 7610 and 6670 runs on Symbian, 3230 too and others. 6230/6230i runs on Series60, you're comparing Mac wif Windows.

Symbian doesnt necessarily mean better performance, doesnt necessarily mean videos recorded will be good due to the bigger screen.

Its very difficult to compare and give an unbiased realistic judgement.

                                    r00shan:

they're not issues and it doesnt mean that your 3230 is lousy already. dun be shallow.

some programs can't work on other models coz when they were first designed or coded, they're were not designed for future models in mind. some programs may be proprietary to some models while some may be totally open, ie, can be installed on any model and it still works. 3230 is a new phone, running on a more or less improved version of the Symbian OS so such incompatibility issues are NORMAL and REALISTIC.

if you cant install a program meant for a MAC machine onto a PC, are you going to blame the company?? No right. Or if you install a relatively old software meant for PC of yesteryears onto current specs, it doesnt necessarily mean it'll work you know.

if you would read what I said ... you would understand that I was talking about 6230 (0.3mbpix) ... 6230 has the streaming that I was talkin' about... the movement is good, it doesn't lose frames but the quality is smaller ... on the other part at 6670 ... the video is absolut crap coz the number of frames per second is small ... so next time ... process with ya mind what you read..not with something else ...

Read some sad comments on the 3230. I got a suggestion: check out the specs of the 6230i, its got 1.3mp, 1 hr voice memo, STEREO mp3, aac, m4a player, STEREO fm player, 208 x 208 display (3230 has 176 x 208)....and best thing, its CHEAPER than 3230. I used the compare function on this site and think 6230i beats 3230 handily in terms of features. Good luck!
