Best Bargain. Initially I was in two minds whether to buy Samsung D500 or 3230. I settled for the latter. Just a week ago I bought this piece. I still donno how to make it play mp4 video which Nokia claims can be played at full screen (176 x 208). I transferred some mp4 files from PC suite to the mobile but the Real Player could not play them. Any suggestions.? Audio seems to be slightly low. Camera is excellent.

Goodness!!! If you want a stereo mp3 player, buy an Ipod!!! Don't you think!?? I just bought my N3230 last weekend, and for me, it's the best fone for now at its price and over-all package! fm radio, mp3, 1.3mp, games, ptt, etc, and the stylish look. It's elegant, useful, and swabeh!!!! :)

Well I just bought the phone a few days ago, everything is great. Except for the fact that (I assume everyone is having the same problem), that the pictures are flattened a bit. And yes, as was suggested before, you will need to transfer to your PC and then resize it one by one. Which is of course a lot of hassle if you take a lot of pictures everyday, so I am disappointed by this fact.
Considering the previous models does not have this problem, I am starting to wonder if there is a fix to this? I think the resolution is too big 1280 x 960-something. In the past the resolution was only 1024x768, thus probably why the previous model doesn't "flatten" the image to fit the phone.
So I am still looking for threads on how to solve this issue, as I am a person who takes alot of pictures, I don't prefer to edit it one by one.
For those who wonder by how many pixels you would need to resize it, I have run through several tests, and I have found that 1200 x 960 something would be the "original" size.
Decrease the width by 80 pixels and you should get a roughly original picture. Of course I may be off by a few pixels, but you go give it a try. I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to play with it.
Goodluck, and oh, anyone knows how to fix this problem please contact me at pandaemas81@yahoo.com.
Thanks. :)

Regarding the pics proportion compress problem on N3230, I've email Nokia HK, they said they're NOT aware this bug and suggest this is my particular phone problem. Quite disappointed to Nokia HK customer services. I've tested on five Nokia 3230 and can find this problem easily by bare eyes. (You can test it also, try to capture a round ball, then you will notice the pic saved in your phone will appear as a sphere) To recover to the normal round shape, you need to transfer the file to ur PC, and use a photo editor software to resize the image height, i.e. to stretch the image looks taller.
Overall speaking, N3230 is really a good phone, with comprehensive functions, and in a comfortable size.
One question, anyone try on Nokia PC Suite 6.5? What's the difference from the last ver 6.41?

Copy of question from 08/04 applies to me also, as Nick put it so well, why change- I have just bought this phone on orange (uk) and am very satisfied with it, except for one drawback - the standby screen is somehow tailored to Orange - it has a strip down the left hand side of the screen with shortcuts to contacts, messages etc. Unfortunately these shortcuts are much more difficult to use than the normal nokia screen (for example, you can't hit left to start a new SMS).
Is it possible to change this so that when my phone turns on i get the normal nokia standby screen instead of this Orange rubbish? Can anyone help or even tell me they have the same problem?
Discovered that hold menu down & enter tel application will get rid of orange side menu but do anything & it's back again. Cheers in advance.

I bought the Nokia 3230 recently. Photos stunning and video is fine and for long time. Its very feature rich mobile with lot of video and photo editing utilities, Browsing experience is very rich. But both netfront / Opera is lacking. Buttons to be get adjusted over time. and removing Sim card or memory card is very tedious affair. delete and escape buttons are side by side.. to be careful until get adjusted. Very very good compared to my earlier Nokia 6600. it is good selection. Looks also good and sturdy.

sudeep:
what kind of data are you referring to?
if it's contact number you can use infrared to transfer all your data from 8310 to 3230.
you have to send it one by one though.
but it's a lot better than typing them all over again.

This fone is available in Pakistan in just $380, pretty fair price. Despite the mp3, this fone is excellent, there is a software available called "pro equilizer" that will sharpen its mp3 playback just similar to 6230 but im still lookin for it:(
