Amar:

Not all 3rd party symbian software face compatibility problems. I've installed many applications on my 3230 and it works fine. Some can't cause they're for older Symbian models like 3650/6600.

Bluetooth connectivity with my notebook works perfectly well. If you're facing problems, it could be due to the bluetooth settings on your notebook/PC. Videos/pictures can be transferred to the rs-mmc without any hitch.

Whether or not these problems will be rectified in later 3230 batch releases, no one knows. If you have any contacts with Nokia, you may wanna ask them and update us.

    Ishtiaque:

MP3 playback output is not stereo through the headphones, it is still mono, which is similar to those on the 7610. 6230i will give you a stereo sound cause they have a dedicated Music Player feature.

The resolution taken by the respective cameras are different. Pictures on the 3230 turn out 'compressed' and unproportionate, and as discussed here in the forum many times over, it could be due to buggy software settings.

The pricing of the two different models is entirely dependent on how much your operator is charging. Both pricing may be different by a slight margin.

Hi, I gather that 3230 has problems/bugs with symbian compatible thirdparty software and blutooth conectivity with pc and transfer of videos/snaps to rsmmc. Are these problems rectified in later 3230 releases? Can any1 highlight as I intend to buy 3230. Thanks in advance...

Yes there are a lot of mobiles in the market with a 1.3 MP Camera & the resolution of 1280x960, but there seem to be fine, none have the problem seen in the 3230..
Have recently taken a 6630 for my brother..It seems fine...
I think there might be a reason why we are facin such a problem with the 3230..
The lens used in the 6230i & 3230 seem alike..both are smaller than the ones used in 6630 & 6680, both have 3X zoom while the later have 6X zoom..
But 6230i has a resolution of 1280x1024 & 3230 has 1280x960..So i think the company overlooked something here...

Hi guys, thanks for your suggestions. 3 small enquiries about the 3230.

mp3: Does it play stereo mp3 through headphones? Is the quality of mp3s in it comparable to 7610 or 6230? better or worse?

Camera: better/worse/similar to 6230i? Does 3230 make the click sound while taking pictures? If yes can it be turned off?

Price: which one is more expensive --3230 or 6230i ?

                To dana,

i tried that method of yours and it works man . but this pixels problem can be fix by upgrading a new firmware or need to change the hardware ? i am worried that if it needs to change and what if nokia doesn't change for us ? original is 1280 x 960 . nokia should change all to 1280 x 1024. anyway thanks !

You may want to consider writing in a language that you're comfortable with.

                  Port USB: YES.

Volume (??): We have no way to measure the decibel output. Please ask Nokia directly. What is loud to us may be soft to you and vice versa. How do you want us to answer? "Oh, the volume is quite loud", "The volume is soft, not loud enough, can be better, worse than other models". Would such answers satisfy you?

Total information: ?!??!!? What 'total information'?!! Please may an effort to check out http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,65362,00.html or click on the word 'Specifications' you see on the left hand side. What are these mobile phone websites for? For reviews and like-minded customers to post opinions/observations. Not to ask questions with answers that you can already find.

To those who are experiencing slow response from the Nokia 3230:

What you can do is to Press and Hold the menu button. See if there're other applications running at the background.

A good habit is to always click 'EXIT' after any use of the applications. Eg: If you're using the camera, after snapping those special moments and viewing them in the gallery, etc, click on 'EXIT' to close the camera. Failure of which, the camera is still operating at the background.

This is all similar to our Windows taskbar (for those using Windows OS), if there're tooooo many applications/programs at the background, it'll slow down the system.

So do some good housekeeping by always EXITING your programs. At the main menu, move all scattered applications into folders, so you'd see a clean 'desktop' with only the main folders displayed.

                            Rossco:

With regards to using the power button to activate the profiles, click on it and go to your desired profile then 'HOLD' it down.

                            It works on my phone.

The memory full incident could be one-off incidents. Similar to our desktop computers or notebooks, there's a limit to how much the RAM can process. Too many windows/applications running at the background and the computer will prompt 'virtual memory running low' or something like that.

Press and hold the menu button (the one of the far left) and see if other applications are running at the background. Close them.

Had this a week now, here are the problems....

The Themes Colour Pallete doesn't work.

Cannot active profile from the button on the top (although the option is there)

Memory full message appears when trying to open large files, a power down is required.

Other than these issues its a top phone

                                RP:

'MAJOR' problems of the phone have been mentioned and discussed in this forum as of today and I'm sure none of us would want to repeat ourselves again.

You may want to refer back on the past postings to have an idea of the current situation of the Nokia 3230. As of today, many of us are waiting for a firmware upgrade to tweak many of the bugs, some obvious, some subtle.

I suggest you wait a little longer before purchasing the phone.

                                  Feng:

What you'd get in your package would be the equipment with the latest software straight from the production plants of Nokia or, freshly installed with some other features by your telephone operator.

New firmware or not, you can call Nokia Care to ask for an update. Its like maintenance of our vehicles, we don't possess the skills or resources to repair the cars ourselves, so we bring it down to Nokia Care either for a fresh upgrade or to recondition the phone.

                                    SunScreen:

You may show a little respect and make some effort by reading the previous reviews/posts/opinions posted with regards to Nokia 3230 before posting that question.

Whether or not that beep is a software coding oversight (a bug), no one knows. Maybe Nokia purposely included that as a pre-alert, of course, most of us, including myself, find it hard to accept coz at times, its irritating. If its really a bug, Nokia may be on its way tweaking it with a firmware upgrade.

All these have been discussed in the previous posts. It helps alot if you read up a bit before repeating here again.

                                      Just bought the phone yesterday.
Whenever I receive a incoming call or an sms, the phone will activate a default(beep)sound before playing the tone that I orginally assigned to. Is this a bug, software problem or the men from Nokia have gone nuts?
There is no way I can prevent that BEEP sound from activating..
