Me again :P
I just called Singapore Nokia Care Centre. If we want to upgrade the firmware, we still have to take it physically to the Nokia Care Centre.

In case, you will like to know your version of the firmware. This is what you should do.

Press *#0000# then you will get the version.

Mine is V 3.0510.0ch

      Hi Guys
Got the phone 2 days ago ! I loved it :P The only problem is when I tried to take photos. It always asked me to close other applications as the storage is full. Do you guys know what is the problem?
Do I have to purchase extra MMC in this case? I did not install additional programs at all ...

the msvdriveE must be usefull for 3230 owner, you may download it at:

          http://www.symbian-freak.com/quides/smsmmc.htm

but it was meant to be used with n-gage, so is it 100% compatible with this phone??

            Singaporeans:

Please do not waste your time travelling down to the Nokia Care Centre to enquire on the latest firmware.

Call 64102444 and the Customer Relationship Officers will assist you. Saves you time.

              Sean:

Your firmware, tho different from the other one mentioned, may be the latest as well.

Different regions have different firmware versions. Do check with your local Nokia Careline.

                Teen:

If you've made an effort to READ the specifications, it says 'up to 60 minutes' recording.

You may install other 3rd party video recording applications to extend this time.

when you guys say that this phone plays MP3 in mono. I assume that the phone only plays one channel in both headphones. Do you know which side does the phone uses? Left or Right?

Hey HardCore Nokia Fan, how's the speed of the N3230? being a S60 phone it must be slower than a S40 one. I had a N6600 but sold it cause a can't take the slow response of the phone.

I'm hoping that with a newwe hardware, nokia might put in a new chip to make the OS faster. otherwise, i'm getting the N6230i.

What's your opinion on the speed?

I have been all the nokia symbian models, starting from 3650, follow by 3660, 6600, 7610 & most recent 6670. Initially, I though 3 series (3230) may be a low-end phone and after trying at the starhub shop. I bought it and very happy with the this new 3230.

I don't need 3G cos my friends, colleagues, customers do not use 3G & furthermore it can be quite expensive to use the 3G services frequently. This 3230 really a smart phone-it has everything you name it. Radio, MP3, Infrared (7610/6670/6680 does not have infrared), bluetooth, video recording 1 hr, 1.23 megapixel cam, very bright screen display, etc..

For those who do not own or may not to pay a bit more for a better phone, kindly please do not undermined this 3230 phone. I thinks even better than the coming 6230i cos the screen is much bigger & better, functions is has it all and maybe even more than 6230i.

It certainly a good buy compared the price with other same price range phone.

Firmware is the basic company software that comes with the phone..
Nokia updates the firmware for its exisiting models whenever it releases new accessories, like bluetooth headsets, etc or when there are problems with the current one, so that they can be compatible with previously released models...
These Firmware are accessible to Nokia Care people as soon as the company releases them..
All we have to do is drop by a Nokia Care Centre & ask for an update..Sometimes many of these Centres are so negligent that they dont download these from the website & tell us that there is no firmware released yet..
So the bottomline try to know what the latest firmware is & demand it...Because we are not fools to spend so much on a half hearted endeavor..

Hey again, RP here. Just want to say to the people who maybe reading this and getting discouraged don't be. I have bought this phone and it is nothing short of brilliant. This phone is nothing short of perfect for me in every way and the things that really have astounded me are the setting wizard (it took like 1 second to setup wap, gprs instead of the hassle I had to go through with my past phone), the camera is excellent and the games 3D look fantastic! The build quality of the phone is... what's a good word to use... authentic? The display is beautiful and... so much more. So believe me if you want a smart phone and your on a tight budget, here's your answer.

My only REAL concerns are :

The startup which takes a bit long. Hopefully, it will be fixrd in the future.

The soft key, menu key and accept call key seem lose and click a bit louder then when you push other buttons. Can't be fixed with firmware upgrades (duh!) but if you are like me, this real concern is not that much of a big deal. It doesn't really interfere anyway.

                                      To George:

How is your picture quality? Everybody is comlaining about the resolution.. How are your pictures?

Hope we'll get an answer. And maybe a link to your online photo's..
