Just to clarify, the 477mb i mentioned refers to avi files (video and movie files).

My mp3s come up another 275mb.

O btw nowadays i more or less resample all my mp3s to 48kbps~64kbps at either 32kHz or 22kHz mono channel. In that way i get a lot more space without noticable difference to sound quality since the phone speaker is so lousy.

Yes I've more than 512mb data in my card. In fact I only have less than 50mb left out of my 1Gb MMC. Trust me, it's working alright.

I have 100 over games and applications installed, 100 over mp3s and 4 full length smartmovie plus a couple of MV in avi format (which took up about 477mb of my space)... no problem at all.

For info, I'm using Kinston MMCmobile.

Check out Transcend website. Select Nokia and then 3230 and press Go. See what they listed. Both RS-MMC and MMCmobile (RS-DV-MMC) are supported... up to 1Gb for 3230.

In Nokia support site itself , they are telling it can support max of 512 MB...

Hi TC...can u please confirm that, u have stored more than 512 MB of data in your 1GB memory card....

It can also happen that even if u r able to put
1GB memory, you may not be able to access more than 512 MB....

              Hi Simon George Mandy

I am working at Chennai as an Programmer.
Ok. Before buying 512MB please compare the price of 1GB and 512MB and also confirm with your friends or post your question in this site and ask, whether 1GB will work in Nokia 3230 mobile or not. Someone posted that 1GB is working in his 3230 mobile. That's why I said Please compare the prices between 512MB and 1GB. Dont be hurry. Think 1000 Times before you buy. Because we should not waste our valuable money.

              God Bless All Of You

                  Hi Nanda

Thanks a lot for the links.I tarnsferred one mp3 song which is more than 6mb to my Nokia 3230 whithout any hassles, but it took around 8 minutes (bluetooth). But i transferred the same file from my phone to another sony ericsson w550i using bluettoth that took only 4 minutes.Phone is excellent.I dont know why people are telling mp3 quality really bad,may be they are compressing the song to 64kbps,I copied a 128kbps song, and it plays excellent (bass and treble as i get in the pc) But its good only when i am using the HD3-Headset.In te phone loudspeeker the sound is very low..

                  Regards
                  Simon

                    hi nokia-freaks ......
i have recently purchased nokia3230 and this one rocks with good ergonomics, abundant interesting features.some positive points in support of buying this...

1>feature rich with decent price (price is coming down day by day, i bought it with approx 229.78 usd).
2>symbian os based on series60 platform gives a pc like feel.
                    3>absolute ease regarding navigation.
4>good display of 65k and screen is also sensibly large.
                    5>bluetooth works very smoothly.
6>1.3 megapixel camera is more than enough to take casual photos/enough opportunity of tweaiking cam. settings with 3rd party softwares.
7>os is not slow...installing, uninstalling, opening applications etc don't consume much time.
8>visual radio is good with enough signal-strength to catch local fm radios.
9>external dv-rsmmc slot which can support probably 2gb of external memory.
10>headset(hds-3) is excellent with nice and balanced(low, medium and high frequencies) bass-treble output and lowest distortion.
11>opportunity of robust download---like wallpapers, .3gp videos, ringtones, games etc.

                    some disadvantages:
1>joystick is smooth but keypad doesn't have the tactile feel. keypad area needs more space.
2>only one speaker beside power button doesn't produce enough and good sounds...when roaming outside the sound is hard to hear.
3>battery consumption is too much high. the charge doesn't last for a full day even if the handset left unused...standby time is horribly low.

I must mention that each handset has its own pros and cons...overall, this is a very good handset. If u are preparing to buy a mid-level smartphone, u can go for it....

                        Hi Simon George Mandy,

To copy large file to External memory we don't need any settings or any other software. Only thing is you need to have PCSuite and DataCable That's all.

PCSuite is Free you can download in Nokia Website. DataCable will be 1500Rs. I don't know from which place you are. Please contact your dealer for the price of Data Cable.

                              Hi Simon George Mandy,

                              File Copy Solution
                              ===================
Generally speaking you cannot copy a file which is larger than your phone memory or external memory (Memory Card).
I have copied 27MB file to my External Memory Card from PC to my handset (3230 Mobile). Its working.
I have 250 MB Memory Card in my handset.

                              Firmware Solution
                              ==================
                              1. The latest firmware cannot be downloaded from any where ( I research on this alot)
                              2. We cannot install firmware by ourself.
                              3. You need to go to your nearest Nokia Service Center and ask them to Install
( Here I want to say onething, I went to nokia service center and asked to install latest firmware version.
They kept my mobile for two days and after that returned to me.
When I asked about latest firm ware is installed or not? They said Yes.
But the Truth is they did nothing. Because I know my firm ware version before giving to them.
I don't want to fight on this because this is a free service ( if your mobile is in warranty period).
                              )

Before giving your mobile in Nokia Service Center please ask whether they have the latest firm ware version?
If say yes then safely you can give your mobile for latest firmware.

I have V4.0537.0 firmware in my 3230 mobile. I heared that V5 is released. I don't know exactly.
Press *#0000# to get your firmware version.

                                positive side= design + camera + 1h video capture.
Negative side= joystick + keybord + incomplete messages options like : storing messages in MMC + configure the 4 ways of joystick.

In So many 3230 blogs I have seen that we cannot copy files more than 4.5MB size from our pc to Nokia 3230 as Nokia 3230 is having only 4.5 MB free insternal memory and we cannot copy directly to the Memory card.Is that true? One more thing is What is the latest version of firmware for Nokia 3230?
and How do i install it to the phone ?
Where do i get it ?

I wish to correct your statement saying 1Gb card doesn't work on 3230. Check your source properly. I've been using a 1Gb MMCmobile for more 4 months now without problem. In fact if you go and check out memory card manufacturer who produce 1Gb MMC, you will see Nokia 3230 listed in their compatible list.
