Ive been using this phone for 7 months now. This is almost a perfect phone, music, shortcuts! battery life lasts for 3 days! easy to navigate, nice fonts! definitely a plus!! I guess that the downside of this mobile phone is poor lighting when it comes to pictures because i tried transferring pictures from my phone to my laptop, pictures are clear yet dark, i still need to adjust the brightness on my photo editor! it also lacks flash to capture on dark images. But i guess it's all worth it because of memory capacity. im just wondring what to do with the picture quality though its mentioned that its 2 MP.

I hav it for 6 months & thee screen actually ERODES! a very thin layer comes off if u rough use it. screen protector is a must if u want to save it.

Very nice phone - value for money.
Being a rather not expensive phone, it is well worth it for those looking out for a new mobile phone. You'll enjoy it.
A few things that could have been included in my opinion:
flash for the camera and volume control should not have been exclusively given to the dedicated music keys.

- Use ffmpeg.exe to convert your videos to MP4 format, 500kbps MP4 videos work just fine on the 5130, ignore the 3GP format (it's obsolete ancient rubbish)
- Firmware 6.65 for the 5130 is OK, no need to upgrade to newer firmware

I have just bought this phone in South Africa.
It is my 2nd or alternate phone.
I use a blackberry for business and this one has now replaced my Nokia 6120.
I can only say what a wonderful discovery.
It was a debate for me between buying a phone with a good camera or a music phone .
I am happy with the pictures they not fantastic but they are not terrible.
As for the rest of this phone its simply brilliant
I use the shortcut keys to direct me straight to my Gmail application and Opera 5 beta. I am on MTN and the amazing thing is that I get my email faster than on my Blackberry Curve 8900, the phone is a pleasure to use and the music side is a pure joy.
The problem IU have with qwerty type phones is that sending SMS etc when on the move requires concentration however the 5130 bar style allows easy predictive text and with the opera browser the internet is on your phone and easily accesable.
I consider myself a gadget freak and this little phone has impressed me and I am very happy to have it.

it looks like a good phone ..but i wana know if it supports the latest version of mxit?and i like jamming with music ...is it a good phone for me to buy?

Thank you XYZ and Andy G for taking time to answer my question. I have settled for 6303C since I am not looking for disco type music.
ON FIRMWARE: I think people need to be careful before doing a firmware upgrade since i believe this is released per country/model origin. A Nokia 5130 made in India can have a bug whereas one made in Hungary has none, at times there are loopholes or cutting corners in production. So it is safe to do a firmware update for your particular country, its no use logging to the Indian site when you are in Europe, the same way cars can look the same but all are made specific to climate and regional specs...

Sme1 plz hlp me.i've downloaded da unregistred version of total vdo converter3.50.due to da function,i thnk it's da best converter i've ever seen.it's an all in 1 converter.but i cant convert vdos to .mp4 format.while i m trying,it shows dat"UNRECOGNISED hq"& stops&dat time it doesnt do anything.thn i've to re-open it.wat shd i do?shd i need to register it?if u hav da reg. camera quality, 16 Dec 2009i planed to buy a good camera mobile so please tell me sony... moreThere is a problem in Nokia 5130, if you receive or write a message which contain the spaces b/w lines by using enter, the spaces do not show this mobile screen. You can test it by writing a message which contain line spaces and see the preview of the message. I found this problem also in Nokia 6303.

Xyz, 16 Dec 2009You should buy 6303.it is better than 5130you are right, if imaging that you want then the 6303 classic has a 3.2MP camera thats awesome.
If you just want to plug in the headphones all day and listen to music then this 5130 is OK

download the pc suit from this web site and also
download the software updater here, install both in
your p.c follow the instructions and have fun with
new firmware:-)
