All that glitters is not gold.thats all i want to say about this scrappy phone.I was a hardcore mobile freak and at that time i had Nokia
6233 with me.and what to say about it performance.as you know it s flawless and a masterpiece device ever made by nokia (and they ever
will).after 2 years of heavy usage my 6233 s battery got bulky and i had to charge it daily. as a music buff who used to listen to the superb sound of 6233 had to think about the other musicexpress deviced and i zeroed on this slimmy scrappy device.I just curse the moment when i exchnged my 6233 with this. i bought a red 5220.the first day all things went nice. the next day, it began to show its true
colours.First was that the phone was swithching off according to its wish and secondly when i tried to play tones at high volume, it began to creak and a muffled sound started coming. Frustrated, i replaced it again with another 5220, this time a blueone.the dealer assured me that 1 out of thousand sets may have complaints.and what happened next? the same old story.it creaks and creaks.I was restless.Once again i contacted the dealer.This time I didnt wanted to try my luck with other musicexpress devices. the dealer persuaded me to buy 5310. but i simply brought N3120.The dealer said it wont sound like music express. i said who needs it anyway i wanted a phone to make calls.I was a strong follower of nokia (especially 6233).this incident chnaged me completely. I could have tried the Walkmanns and the beats range from other makers. But i was not ready to risk with the poor service backup.i am no more a mobile buff these days.that once i used to be. indeed dont care about mobile phone these days. my advice to all who are aspiring to buy this cell.play it at louder tones bfore u buy (especially nokia tone);to all those who own 6233- dont u ever change your phone, if u then u may hate mobile phone.(this is only my personal opinion).

There will always be better phones *if you can pay more* but 5220 fits the 90 Euros mark in a perfect way. And besides all the goodies of the phone itself (dedicated music chip, FM radio with RDS, QVGA screen, good battery, 3.5mm jack...), its get additional value just for being a Nokia. You get Nokia PC suite. You can update its firmware easily. You can search google for Nokia themes, ringtones or anything and you will find a bunch. Or just try http://mosh.nokia.com/
As I said, best under 100 Euros phone.

just got this phone as a xmas present from my GF, my previous phone was a samsung z560.
the specs are almost the same but this phone gives so much more freedom then the samsung firmware...thats what i like most about this phone...
you can update read\send SMS view images sinc contacts all from your computer
the screen its nice but the view angle could be better its not bad but could be better.
batery life is awesome the camera is so so but this is not a photo phone so for the price (90€) and the sonic quality i would say its a very nice catch
i recommend it considering its a mid-low range phone

guys today only i came to know about gsmarena.I read complete forums about 5220.
In most of the review i read that battery is not good & hangging/restarting if any of u can suggest me about the 5220. It's good to buy 5220.
just i am waiting for an valuable reply. i always like to hear min 5 hours music. its battery is good pls suggest me

its good;but its battery is not so good.&its music section has also some problem.moreover nokia could have made a better set.i will give a 7.5 out of 10........

pooja, 27 Dec 2008hi benton pls help me which ph.is realy good in 4000 to 5000Hi pooja Samsung J150, Nokia 3110c,Nokia 3500c and upcoming nokia 5130xpress music are between 4k t0 5.5k better go for samsung J150.

Dear Jimmy, u r right. 5.20 is more stable. I updated my version 4.0 to 5.20. There is no problem of restarting AFTER UPDATING. but today i face a new problem after updating there is no option of CALCULATOR in ORGANIZER. But a new option of MAPS. Plz check it there is a problem in ur cell phone?

Nokia usually updates the European versions first, then Asian and only then the American ones, and I presume you're somewhere on the American continent... There's also a possibility that your version doesn't need an update yet, in which case it will be longer yet before they cater for your corner of the world.

Battery is very good, I get 5 days with a minimum of calls and maybe one hour of music playing. I say it's a good phone, the only thing I don't like much is how "plasticly" it feels on your hand.
