One thing I forget to mention. It's network connection is excellent. I tested it in very remote places of low signal. IMHO, that's the best part of it :)
Because, mobile is used mainly for talking. If you get an excellent phone with lots of features, but bad connectivity, it's not good.

Overall a good phone at a reasonable price.
Speaker is not good, though sound quality is very good using a good head phone.
Battery is ok for not moderate users. For me, it's only one day!
Screen is very good.
Camera is ok for 2mp. But, I don't like fixed focus.
Video quality is good 30fps. But, grains are there. Need to use some software in your computer to remove them.
Software is ok. You can install many software. It's better if it has more Internal memory and Ram. Symbian s60 v5 is a very robust OS.
Over all it's a very good entry level smart phone at a very low price tag!

they call it smart phone, i call it dumb phone, ugly big icons on homescreen and its bulky like a brick it brings down the real 5800 xpress music

Anybody know how to select/mark more then one file. If i have 20 file and i want to mark 7 files for that for each file i am opening option -> mark. But in some other phones if i mark one file new option to mark/unmark will come as a single keystroke. Is there any option in this phone?

5230 is the best it is big and bulky it sounds like a can and shoot like a cannon camera! totally the best phone i ever had since 3310

It also doesn't have "Xenon" flash and listening to "lady gaga" songs is uneventful.

the os is very crude and very rough. many features that basicaly found on s40 that are missing in this phone. basic apps like countdown timer, stopwatch or may a selectable phone content lock are not built in. you might say that i can always download free apps but nokia should have installed it on the os so if i reformaat my phone it will be their on the phone. i dont want to download and install them again. it should have been installed with the phone because these apps are also what you will see on cheaper s40 nokias.

i hope nokia will not use 400 mhz processors anymore and would only use 600 mhz and up on their touch phones. 400 is too slow and very ancient. opening the sms maker on the 5230 is the slowest response i have ever seen so far. i thought my samsung u800 was slow, but now it is clear to me that nokia touch screen phones with 400 mhz is slowest phone i think. the ram is too little like those found on their n 97 which are very expensive yet they put on 120 something ram and 400 something processor.i bought this phone 2 months ago thinking i bought a midrange performer but in reality it performs worst than cheap 2 mega pixel phones. my old 3120 classic can operated much faster and more easily even though it is a s40 nokia.

Its realy a smart phone in low range. its having all that features that a phone required.
its come with 2.0 m p camera with sharp clear pic.
u can use 3g connection with 3.6 mp/s. its realy fast.
not external but internal sound is realy digital clear.
u can use it map with root deduction, its video camera is realy great with 30 frame per second. its realy very clear type u can make ur own movie with it, the best thing is its audio recorder its come with digital type clear recording. u record and listen in digital audio system u'll realy like it.
and for music lover it come with 3.5 mm audio jack in wich u can connect ur own ear phone of high quality.
and for game lover it comes with motion sensor tech u can play 3d type motin sensor game in ur device.
