[deleted post]Yes mate I've heard about it as well but haven't had a chance to get my hands on a pair. Both are similarly speced with SHH9700 having a higher frequency response but that really doesnt matter as anything above 15KHz is quite insignificant. It is better you do a hands on comparison with the SHH9700 if you can find one.
I really like the colours and form factor of the EX57 but cant tell anything about it's quality unless I get my hands on a pair. After some ill experiences with the EX35, i'm a bit hesitant to go with sony again unless they come up with something very good like the EX85SL. Just hope EX57 changes all that.

The other important thing is that everything about headphones are purely subjective. Some like the sound signature of Sony while others prefer something else. it doesn't matter whether you go for philips or sony as long as you are pleased with the audio quality of the EX57, then you need not go any further and complicate things. Go for it. All these headphones are good stuff from reputed brands so you can't go wrong in that. i'd also suggest you try and get a cheap nokia AD-54 headset adapter so that it will be easier to change songs and adjust the volume without unlocking the phone everytime. you can get them for as cheap as 200 with almost nokia like built quality.

                    Hi SidewindeR,

Atlast I'm able to persuade my dad to give me rs.500/- more so that my budget goes to rs.1500/-. Now I can plan to buy philips shh9700.

But a new problem arises! Yesterday one of my frnd showed me a new Sony earphone,
MDR-EX57SL, of which he says that it is new launch product. I heard some songs on it and it's really very good. Mid tones and treble is also good as well as the bass. Very good clarity. My frnd seems to a bit biased towards Sony, so he said that it is better than shh9700. I'm now dying to find anybody who have shh9700 so that I can compare these two before buying.

Do u have any experience wid the new Sony mdr-ex57sl? If yes, please give me ur valuable suggestion on this regard!
It's now becoming Philips shh9700 vs Sony MDR-EX57SL for me... But who is the winner?

Rajesh, 28 Apr 2010@SidewindeR: What's comment on Creative EP-635. How much i... moreYes EP635 seems to be a great for starters. The EP635 is the same as the famous EP630 but with a neck strap design. Honestly I do not like the sound signature of the EP630 as it appears to sound too tinny and bass is somewhat untuned or bloated and can sometimes give you headaches. It is a very good inear earphone for starters but not the best sounding. it won't be an issue for you as for first timers and as long as you don't try something better, you'll fell pretty much satisfied with it. That is what i felt till I bought my philips earphones.
Not sure about the price but think it is available for around 1300rs. Don't buy it if the shopkeeper offers you a very low price. Chances are that it would probably be a fake. So try and buy it from a reputed seller who offers you bill and warranty of any sort.

Raj, 28 Apr 2010Hi, can you please suggest me the best OEM headset, u... moreWell for a budget range of 1200 you can probably get
                              Sony - MDR-EX35LP - 990
                              Sony - MDR-ED12LP - 790
                              Philips SHE9550 - 1149
                              Creative EP630 - 1200 approx

Well these are the stuff that is available in my home town.
I have purposely excluded the sennheiser CX300 as it is way outta your league. Well 1200 seems to be kind of an odd budget when it comes to earphones. The choices are so narrow and constrained. But if you can just extend your budget to around 1500, you can get
better alternatives with exponential increase in audio quality.
Out of these I'd recommend the Philips SHE9550 or EP630. But naturally i am a bit biased towards the philips as I am a current user and is fully satisfied with it's performance. And another thing is that with philips, you can be quite sure to get a genuine
earphone and not a chinese fake.
Mind you that you should be careful about buying stuff from brands like sony, creative and sennheisers especially online as there is a very great chance that the product can turn out to be a fake.
Don't get charmed by the attractive prices. As for me I talk out of experience having fallen into that puddle more than once.
I do hope that this information is of any use to you. Fell free to extend your budget a bit more and get the best. You get what you pay atleast when it comes to earphones.
                              Regards!!

djmix, 28 Apr 2010darn, I tought 5230/5233 can play mp4 files, like H.264 MP4... moreH.264 is a very resource intensive codec. It requires more CPU power (=lesser battery backup) than normal mp4 but has a slight edge with better quality at lower bitrates.
The optimal settings for mpeg4 avc is a max resolution of 400x240 and a bitrate of 500-600 kbps.
It does play smoothly with the above settings. But the question is whether this is a better alternative. For a fact, you'll be able to save a bit of disk space at the expense of battery backup and full resolution.
Even a normal mp4 with 640x360 and a bit rate of 700kbps works smoothly without any trouble and it will only add about 100mb additional to a 500mb movies in avc format. The quality is also at par with avc with reduced dropped frames and overall stable playback. So which format you choose is upto you. Not to mention that encoding of avc files take almost twice as long compared toa normal mp4.
