i am about to get the phone nokia 5230
i think its a great phone
even if people say the sound is not clear its actually really clear

In processing speed, touch screen sensitivity 5230/5233/5530 are much better than 5800 as 5800 has only DRAM of 64MB and RAM of 64MB (total 128MB) vs. 128 MB SDRAM in these new phones. (synchronous dynamic RAM which is more efficient). You get kinetic scrolling throughout the menu and almost all bugs in 5800 are fixed in new handsets.

5530 is better choice over this phone if you are ready to spend approx. 2500 Rs and ready to compromise on 3G and GPS (instead you get wifi in 5530 which comes handy at times and Google maps being option to other short come).
You get slightly smaller screen but same resolution, much better sound quality on 3D stereo speakers as well on standard WH 205 headset in 5530 vs ordinary mono speakers in this set plus you get 3.25 MP camera with LED flash, video recording with video light feature at 30 frames per second vs 2MP camera witout flash in 5230.
Obviously you get much more in additional 2.5k bucks.

i bought this phone i.e nokia 5230 last week, the phone is disgusting as
1. The touch screen without navigation key makes it very hard for earlier n series users like me
2.very slow egprs(edge) on all networks in india, samsung i550 gives data download speed of 25kBps apporimately at all times where as nokia 5230 gives only 9kBps apporimately all times
3.camera may be 2MP but is very poor imager
4.last but not the least, this phone has very poor loud speaker quality compareable to other nokia s60v5 sets but the sound in headphone is great.
My advice for Indians who are thinking of buying Nokia 5230..........dont waste 8000 bucks for this worthless phone instead beg/borrow/steal/earn 5000 bucks more and buy nokia 5800 for 13000 bucks which is a great phone which i m going to buy right now thank you for reading so patiently

Value for money challenge....
It's been about a month since i've purchased my Nokia 5233. I thought of going for the 5230 but had to be content with this as it's no where to be found im my home city. Another reason being paying 8.5k for 3G and GPS seemed a bit moot as neither is a big deal for me.
All in all, the best phone I've ever owned. Touch screen is super responsive, phone is zippy compared to its java siblings...
Camera is surprisingly good for a 2mp fixed focus camera.
Music quality is unbeatable and the best I've heard so far (my advice is to pay a bit extra n get the philips she9700 premium earphones).
Themes are superb and the customisation possibilities are endless. It looks very good on the 16M clour display.
And then there is the world of apps that you can play with. Symbian apps are 100 times better than java apps.
All in all, very satisfied with the phone.
Suddenly I realize that no other phone in this price range comes even close to the 5233 in terms of functionality and expandability. The same goes for 5230. I am so confident that I challenge anyone who can come up with a better phone in this price range with all the above mentioned features.
I bet you'll have a hard time coming up with one.
