        Rohit, 15 Feb 2010Hi i have a problem can anyone solve it.when i connect to b... more@Rohit

Hey Rohit, You are answering your own question & the answer being the CLEAR Difference in Technology. 3G is the latest Tech that the Mobile Internet World has to offer while using a Modem is Pity Much OLD School.

Firstly I am assuming that you are located somewhere where 3G Internet is available (US, UK,...) Now whats happening is your mobile obviously detects the 3G and you must be able to use the Full 3G Broadband Speed when using Internet on ur Mobile ..... so no probs thr But the way in which u are trying to access Internet on ur Computer using ur Mobile as a MODEM is degrading the SPEED.

There is CLEARLY a HUGE Difference in both the ways in which you are trying to connect & access Internet. Your service provider might have created an access point in ur mobile phone so every time when u try to connect to the internet from ur PC ...... ur PC connects to the Mobile modem while the modem dials out using that access point.
PC > Modem > Access Point (which automaticaly converts ur 3G to Dialup connection)

So CLEARLY and Legally there is NO way to connect to ur 3G Broadband on ur PC. Buttttt........ there is something that you can do

1st thing: If WiFi would have been present in Nokia5230 then you would have been able to use it as a 3G WiFi Router & would have easily connected to it over your wireless device. But since 5230 lacks WiFi you'll have to go shopping for a WiFi Antenna for ur Mobile (Its available in US, UK ) and you would be able to connect to ur 3G BB on ur PC wirelessly.

2nd Thing: Bluetooth - WiFi Bridge...... Now through this device you will directly be able to connect to the device over Bluetooth and the Bridge cum Router will connect to ur PC through wires or wirelessly. So You should be able to gget the 3G Internet on ur PC.

But yes I do understand its pity much a very advanced configuration. But we cant HELP it I guess.

There was a software route though but seems like Nokia has taken care of it in their latest device lineup.... so it aint working anymore. You can search for it though on GOOGLE and Give it a SHOT Yourself. I cant explain the software route in here cause its very lengthy and includes SCREWING Your Mobile here n there & Mostly in the end its NOT gonna work.

        Take Care.

        Surya Singh.

I bought an 5230, good phone, as being my secondary phone. I noted that the lock/unlock key ie a little "loose", If I shake the phone I can hear it boucing, it remembers me my 1st generation N97... anyone else has noted this?

Raviram, 15 Feb 2010Can anybody guide me how to get the GPS signal in offline m... more@RaviRam

I understand you are looking for GPS signal in offline mode but then what exactly are you doing or not doing to get it. Now how does anyone here know what exactly are you looking for and how is everyone supposed to HELP You. So a Bit more detail would always be appreciated.

Anyways ---- First things First try for a GPS signal only when you are outside because indoors either the signal will be too weak or just not be there.

Try This: GoTo Menu > Applications > Location > GPS Data
            Select Options > Satellite Status

Then Just wait for sometime while the Satellites Show up as Bars & Your Mobiles Location is Locked.

Just reply back with your results.

Sandeep, 15 Feb 2010Hey sahil i totally agree with you nokia had again started ... moreAnother BAKWAAS & New Confusion ever since Akshay Talked on the FORUM

Nokia 5230 ever since it was released had a 256 MB RAM in it. The One that I bought around 3 weeks back also has a 256 MB RAM. The only problem is that you guys talk n just talk without understanding the TERMINOLOGY & TECHNICALITY.

The Memory Cum Storage that Nokia 5230 has is called 256MB NAND FLASH -- Now understand this,

              256 MB NAND = 128 (SDRAM) + 128 FLASH (STORAGE)

Now the 128 MB SDRAM is used by 5230 exactly the way
our computers use Memory ...... Right ????

The other 128MB FLASH Memory is used for File STORAGE purposes exactly the way our Computers have a HARD DISK ...... Right ????

Now the 128 MB FLASH Memory is divided in to 3 partitions A: C: E: where by A: is used to install the Symbian OS of the mobile phone .... E: is used to install the Nokia Apps & Games and C: (70 MB) is the Partition that we get to install or save our Files (Messages, themes, ...etc)

NOTE: A: (ROM) & E:(SYSTEM) are hidden System Partitions so no one would see them.

Now about the Price --- Ever Since Nokia 5230 is available in India its MRP is Rs 9389/- thats printed on the BOX. But the thing is that its the Max Retail Price so obviously you might be charged a lot less then that depending on your location in India & the kind of TAX that your local Retailers have to pay. We in Bombay have to pay a lot of taxes so here the price is on higher end. One very important TIP --- Please just dont buy the CELL from somewhere where the Price is the CHEAPEST because there is a very HIGH Chaance that you might end up buying a "BLACK MARKET" Phone so then dont expect any sought of HELP from NOKIAs End because they can make out your "BLACK MARKET" Phone using the IMEI Number. So Take Care on that FRONT.

Planning, Designing & Mass Producing a Mobile Phone is not a Kids Backyard Game the way you guys are TALKING About. Its Looks like such a JOKE to you all that Nokia would add & remove stuff from a Mobile Phone every now and then. HUUHhh!!!!!

It Takes More then a Year before a particular Model or any Modification Enters the Mass Market. GOD Only knows what is it that you guys are THINKING.

"PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU TALK & DONT CREATE MORE CONFUSIONS""

              Surya Singh.

Hey sahil i totally agree with you nokia had again started the production of this phone in india and they have do even certain changes in it like memory raise to 250 mb and even the price has been raise to 9230 and there has been much more chance of stereo speakers
this time and after its release it would become again of rs.8000 because nokia downs its product price very frequently

Now a new CRAP ......... Why the HELL dont You Guys SHUT Your CRAP UP. Who said this sought of Nonsense to You. GPS is actively working on 5230 while A-GPS is an addon Support for GPS so that the GPS can get some location information from the local Mobile Towers. Now How does a Service Provider come into Picture.. CRAP ... CRAP ... CRAP !!!

The only way the Mobile Internet Service provider will come into Picture is when you are accessing Nokia Maps to find a detailed information of a particular location while using GPS.

                    HELLO @SR @Emir & Everyone out there

                    WHAAAAAKAAAAAAAAAOOOOooooooo!!!

Been Married to this SweetHeart for 3 weeks Now & had been in the "HoneyMoon Profile" ever since (haha) and I can tell you that SHE Gave me one Hell of a GAALA Time. She's Tough, She's Sleek & Smooth AND She knows to do the JOB Pretty GOOD And one things for Certain -- SHE will make people around You Jealous... Very Jealous!!!

But today I guess it was high time or should I say I was FORCED to come out of My SOMBERNESS ..... My Honeymoon Mode. The Reason being "Mobile Congress" & NOKIA will be a part of it on Feb 15 - 16. As a matter of FACT the Mobile CONGRESS has already STARTED right now ..... Its 8:30 am in Barcelona and New Videos have already started pouring out on WWW.

This is what it gets down to -- if anyone of you read my previous POSTs and remember it I had already said this is the Biggest Platform for Nokia 5230, this is where 5230 will grab more attention then any of the other Brands ..... this is where Nokia gets to Show some Muscle through Nokia-5230. And now after this Nokia 5230 will be available in full swing accross the world. So I HOPE it should be there by Mid March.

Yet here we are talking about the same OLD Stuff - "5230 OR 5233 Differences". There are people here on this FORUM Specially Indians who STILL havent accepted the FACT that both the Phones are different from each other. There are people who are still comparing 5230 with "Non-SMARTPHONES" like Samsung Corby & LG Cookie. While the Real TRUTH is that Nokia 5230 can easily be compared to a REAL SmartPhone like iPhone-1st Gen in almost every aspect. Mannn how much more discussions do we need about this. And there are these other GROUP of people like "AKSHAY" who are Actively Creating more CONFUSION amongst New Users. Whatever.........!!!!

And Finally, In my last POST I had mentioned that I had to go SHOPPING for my sweetheart (with all sorts of softwares, themes n wht not). So YES after 5 GB of content I should say that this Machine can do almost everything for you ---- well except 2 things that it couldnt do for me.

1st Thing: I know almost all of you might have TRIED to play your Videos on this machine but then found out it doesnt support those file formats (avi, xvids, divx, even high quality mp4 is not supported). A few of you then might have tried some other softwares to do just that but all in vain ..... Right??? So Give-UP!!!! because it aint gonna happen since Nokia has actively BLOCKED those PLUGINS in the phone through a combination of hardware IDs & Plugin IDs. Remember one more thing that Nokia 5230 is more Powerful then Samsung & LG & old HTC so if they can play those High End File Formats so can 5230. Although eversince Symbian OS has been Open Sourced the Chances Now look very Bright that something might comeup SOON ...... but nothing et all right NOW. All you can do is Convert your Videos if you have a powerful PC/laptop.

2nd Thing: (Only For Advanced Users) Since 5230 doesnt has a WiFi the only other option left for most of the Normal Users to get Internet on their 5230 was through GPRS (I am assuming INDIA here since 3G is not in Full Swing here in INDIA) But there is an alternative for Advanced Users and that is to access their PC/laptop Internet on their 5230 using Bluetooth or USB. But the Problem here in 5230s case is that NOKIA has maybe - somehow managed to block it & things aint working. I mean I almost got everything right but the whole Process FAILED in the last STEP (Hardware HANDSHAKE) :(

Apart from these Every Aspect of this Phone is Awesome. I am Lovin it !!!!

This POST is already way beyond LONG so next POST mein we'll talk more.

Nokia 5230 and Nokia 5233 are different phones. 5233 is a cheaper version of 5230. Nokia 5233 lacks 3G and GPS , and is cheaper by Rs.1000. Check out 5233 in Nokia's Indian website.
