I am choosing between this phone and sony ericsson zylo. What I like about this phone is that it is a smartphone with a big screen, it is touchscreen and cheaper. What I like about zylo on the other hand is its nice multimedia features and nice camera. The camera part of a phone is important to me because I do not own a digicam because it would be another purchase. What do you think about the camera of 5233? Is it good enough? I need your advice, thanks.

Menu>settings>phone>phone mgment>device updates.
For updating software, Menu>settings>phone>phone mgment>device updates>options>autocheck for updates and follow the instructions.

Under options select backup and instead of all items tick messages and leave everything else unmarked. After backing up, delete all messages from inbox, outbox, sent, drafts and any messages in my folders. After this, goto back up once again and this time select restore under options and tick messages to restore. After restoration the phone automatically prompts for a restart. After restart, all the names should be displayed for messages with numbers saved in contacts...

Just install pocket sensor app. This app will use the builtin proximity sensor to automatically lock and unlock the phone each time it is taken in and out of the pocket. And fr your restart issue, I advice you to get your firmware updated or else use a cooked firmware. Anyway the latest firmware V21 variants already has a lot of performance improvements form the V12. It also comes with an updated flash player and improved kinetic scrolling.

Under menu, settings, , phone, sensor settings, turning control, uncheck auto rotate display. Now in my case it doesnt restart which it used to occasonally. but accelerometer will be turned off.

Pros:Its An Excellent Mobile For the advanced users.2 full movies can be played through this mobile.worth to purchase.
Cons: Some times its get restarting.Its frustrating to unlock by the slide switch.
Bottom line: Purchase this mobile to watch the movies on the go

Goto *menu* then *help*
In that open item *flash player*
Then open subitem *play flash files*
So clearly if u use nokias own firmware as opposed to hacked one, flash video files can be played.
Also download youtube videos in *flv* file format from tubezen.mobi. It plays.
Also download youtube videos in *flv* file format using *yourtube* java appln from getjar. It plays.
So guys stop using hacked firmware. Use nokias original.

I am 100% sure that 5233 can play flv files. I downloaded a sample clip from http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html and a flash player opened automatically and played the file. I am using the latest updated software. I dont know the technical details .you can check the above link that it is flv or not.

If you were really able to play a video file with .flv extension then i would request you to scan the video file in a video converter (preferably 'media coder') and tell us the video codec, audio codec, audio and video bitrate etc etc of that video file.
