Jett, 04 Aug 2010Hi brother Nuwan, cyber-shot underdog and everyone,
Than... moreDear brother Jett,
After a while... Right...?
OK.. the answers for your hesitations..
Although Vivaz is a SE mobile, as it has Symbian S60 V5 (Just like Nokia 5530) we can install plenty of 3rd party Symbian applications in that unit too..
But as far as I know, Vivaz can't be hacked by using 'HelloOX2' so the software which compulsorily require a hacked mobile, will not be installed in Vivaz... But that is not a big deal as we've got plenty of other software which can be signed and then installed in unhacked phones...
And SE Vivaz has following features over Nokia 5530...
* More Ram (256 MB)
* Faster Processor (728 MHz if I'm not mistaken)
* a Dedicated 3D accelerator
* 3G and GPS
* More Battery (But less thickness)
* Very good camera with HD video recording
But still following cons will also be there.
* Music Quality is definitely far behind 5530
(Most ridiculous thing is, there is no equalizer in Music Player... Instead it's an outside application..!)
* Look of the phone is not that appealing as 5530 (sorry... that's my opinion)
* Fully Plastic made (It's not Nokia... So be careful not to drop the phone..)
OK... for your second question...
'Over the Air' means without plugging the phone to the computer... You can update the firmware using the phone's internet connection... (Let's say through Wifi or Edge...)
You can give your mobile to the care center and let them do the update but I don't know whether they'll do it in the way you want it... May be they will hard reset it and do the update.. In that case you'll loose 'hacking' (I don't think Nokia people like you to have a 'hacked' phone anyway...!)
So.. You better do it by yourself... If you don't mind an unhacked phone, then go to the care center and let them do it...
For your last question,
If you phone is hacked, and if you do 'over the air' update without doing any hard reset, then the phone will remain hacked and you don't have to install anything before... Because there will not be any restriction even after the update as your phone will still be hacked... You don't have to take any precaution but to keep 'hacking'

5530 owner, 03 Aug 2010I don't recommend this phone to all of u cus I had this pho... moreDear 5530 owner,
I also have read some news about this 'switch off' or 'restarting' problem upon receiving phone calls... But let me tell you my personal experience about this mobile...
My 5530 mobile's life timer is about 300 hours... (That's quite a good life timer for just 9 months old mobile..) (Yeah.. I talk with my girl long hours..)
But I'm telling you guys very honestly...
I have never experienced such a 'restarting' or 'switching off' problem upon phone call for all those 300 hours...! So I really don't know why some people have complains as so...!
Well.. It doesn't say my mobile has never given me troubles... But compared to the troubles I have given to my mobile so far, the troubles it has given me are very very negligible...! (For an example... I'm not using my 5530 carefully... I have dropped it several times.. Once it was hit on a concrete from above 5 ft height.. But still it's functioning without any problem... I've installed hundreds of applications in it... I have hacked it... But after all, it has served me perfectly and I rarely had any complain about my unit so far...)
Followings are the pros and cons in this phone as I've observed...
Pros
====
* Excellent Music Quality
* Excellent Colors and screen resolution
* Great Build Quality with stainless steel frame (except the back cover..)
* Nice and smooth touch response
Cons
====
* Battery power is not that good
* Poor sunlight legibility
* Callers voice from the phone's speaker is not loud
* No 3G
There can be so many pros and cons... But I listed the major facts I have observed for the people who're willing to buy the unit..
Overall... I LOVE THIS MOBILE... and fully satisfied with it..

skud, 02 Aug 2010dear nuwan,
have you tried android os? Dear skud,
Honestly speaking I've not touched an Android phone so far.. Android is not popular in Sri Lanka so I couldn't really find one among my friends.. One of my friend has got Xperia X10 but he doesn't like it... But he didn't have any complain about the OS... He didn't like the huge size of the mobile..
We should go deep in to Android in order to compare it with Symbian OS..
But I can say this..
Still, among the Smart phone OSs, Symbian is the most popular one and there is no doubt about it... Also, it's the most supported OS as well.. There are so many developers and software companies which supports Symbian so we've got plenty of 3rd party applications out there...
For Android, it'll take some time to achieve that task even though it's a good OS... But personally I suppose the trend for Android, Apple and Bada OS will be altered back to Symbian with the upcoming N8 bundled with wonderful Symbian 3...
We'll see about that..

Hi brother Nuwan, cyber-shot underdog and everyone,
Thanks to you all for your advises, those sure are a big help to us, and me.
My gf is currently at the mall to get her Vivaz...
Let me ask you brahs! Vivaz, considering an SE phone, also can be installed with tons of 3rd party software right?
and another brother Nuwan, after hacking the 5530 you must update it (by saying) "over the
air" meaning?
What if updated via care center? it will not remain hacked is that it?
now what other important apps you must first install before the update?what are other imp.apps that you cannot install anymore?
