    hi,
Ive been wondering wether the video player can play mp4(h.264)??
I know that the flash player can handle it but its only used when on the internet.
The problem is that nearly all the videos that you can donload( not stream as those are not acailable or are of vry poor quality) are in that format.
I tried to use other players which support ,mkv, etc but not one could play the videos corectly.

If its just a matter of software, why nokia didnt implemnt it??

          ddr, 17 Jun 2010@joe thanks a lot for d reply buddy . . . i first downl... moreDear ddr,

I'm sorry about the problem of yours... Nokia has country based restrictions when updating their firmware... What you've done it correct.. (Checking the no behind the battery and search for updates...) So if it's been mentioned that the newest firmware available for your mobile is V 20 then there's no easy way of installing V 30 in your mobile...

          BUT...
There is of course a difficult way...!

There are software which change the code of the phone software based.. and that will enable for you to update the firmware... But if you're OK with V 20 which is actually a fairly stable firmware version, I don't recommend you to use any software to change your phone's code and update to the latest... Because it MIGHT damage the phone.. (and I have never tried such a thing by myself... So I can not guarantee you its success anyway...) However few of my friends, who had the same problem of yours, and who were desperate to have the latest firmware, did try that way and were successful to do it without any problem...

Please google it and you'll come to know more about that...

GS, 17 Jun 2010Hi Nuwan, i would like to know your opinion about the 5530'... moreDear GS,

Being honest brother, one thing I hate about Nokia 5530 is, its battery performance... It's really really weak... With my excessive usage of Music Listening, it can't hold on more than a day...! So I have to charge it each and every day... (Normally I bring my charger almost everywhere I travel... Just in case...!)

It is OK to charge it even though battery is not completely finished... But I've read some people say, it's good to wait until it drains to the last and then charge it.. For lithium Iron batteries it's said that if we do such a charging cycle at least once a month then that's very good for the maintenance of the battery... But I don't know whether it has that much of a difference... Because Nokia manual doesn't say something like that..

Yeah.. Of course you can use it while charging.... I do that often...

To long last the battery...! What can I say...? Well.. Very briefly you can do the followings to increase the battery life...

            1) Always turn off bluetooth when you don't use it

            2) Turn off 'Wifi network scaning' when you don't use it (Wifi eats the battery...! If you use wifi often, please remember that...)

            3) Reduce the Screen brightness to a minimum value

            4) Close application at the background (that means 'Exit' them) if you don't use them anymore

            5) Keep the Free RAM amount as large as possible (Use a software like 'RAMBlow' in order to increase the free RAM Space of your 5530)

            6) Use a simple theme (sophisticated themes takes much battery)

            7) Minimize the usage of 3rd party applications which drain battery faster (some sophisticated 3rd party software take large amount of RAM and would cause the battery to drain faster... For an example using '360ting' Music player I can only listen to 6 hours of Music started with full battery... But with default Nokia Music player I can go more than to 12 hours normally..)

            8) Reduce the screen auto off time to a minimum

            9) Remove key pad vibration

            10) Remove notification light alerts of at least reduce the blinking time period

That is all I can remember at the moment... Hope this will help...

Nuwan, 14 Jun 2010Dear friends, I'm sorry for the long delay, it's because... moreDear brother,

              Thanks that ur back now!
So finally we got a new firmware n overall it is a nice one,and it is possible that the hacked is still there after updating. How about if my HeloOx2 is installed in the phone memory,is it still ok?I just found out recently that i installed it in phone memory while the rom patcher is in memory card.
Can i uninstall it and then install it again in the memory card?
How to back up the files before updating, what are the things that really need to be backed up?And i saw a back up thing in the memory card, can i use that also brother?

              Thanking you in advance...

Hi Nuwan, i would like to know your opinion about the 5530's battery performance and how often you charge your 5530. Is it a good idea to charge it even though the battery's not completely finished?? Can it be used while charging? Please let me know the ways of making the battery last for as long as possible and what shortens the battery life. Thanks a lot! Also, keep up the good work in answering people's questions!

[deleted post]@ utax - You can read my reply to Ddr and follow what have i suggested in that reply. But, as a proud owner of Nokia 5530, i don't mind at all by writing it all over again. You have 2 option here. The 1st option is the easiest. Just press *#0000# and a screen will flash next with all your Nokia 5530 firmware info. Then just press "OPTION" below the screen and SELECT " Check for updates" at the pop-up menu. Make sure your phone have connected to the internet first via Wi-Fi or your local ISP.The process will takes around approx 5-10 minutes. And just follow all the instruction and download the new firmware update found. Another option is by using the NSU(Nokia Software Updater). In my opinion, this is the best method since it will gives your new update with a whole lot bigger file compared to OTA. But i don't know what's the difference.Anyway, you can get and download NSU at Nokia.com . Download yourself the Nokia PC Suite too. Good Luck! :)

Then just press "Option" below the screen and Select, "Check for updates" as it will checks for the latest firmware. Then it will tells you that new update have been found version bla3 , and just install it from there. Make sure you have connect your phone to the internet 1st via Wi-Fi or your local ISP if the rate is cheap. The other option and the best one for me is usinh an NSU (Nokia Software Updater). You can get this by downloading it from Nokia.com. Download a Nokia PC Suite too if you don't have one. Hope this will help and i recommend you to upgrade to version 30.0.090 since it improves a lots and much stable and faster Nokia 5530XM. Good Luck! :)
