I want to buy a touchscreen phone but i am confu... moreyou said youre a heavy internet user, i suggest go for 5530 it has wifi which you can access internet free of charge although 3g offers more speed but a bit expensive,the rest of the features are almost equal on this handsets music camera os cpu,for style and built quality 5530 wins on that..

I want to buy a touchscreen phone but i am confu... moreso you just want a touch screen phone but you don't care about wifi nor gps. . . well the 5230 can be better for you , due to the larger screen. Making it easier to use. It has exchangeable battery covers red,pink and blue, but sadly the body is just made out of pure plastic :C. But if you choose looks before functionality, well 5530 is better it has a stainless steel frame (as opposed to other Xpress music models) ,and it so compact really, almost like the LG arena. The pink and blue variety looks pretty good on this model, plus it comes with a 4gb micro sd (5230 comes only with 2gb).
but in music terms the 5230 comes with a cheap below average earphones, while the 5530 comes with a moderate in-ear earphones (the one with the noise isolation,that looks like earplugz) plus the 5230 comes with a louder mono speakers, but the 5530 comes with a weaker stereo speakers (so the 5530 scores better in the loudspeaker output, due to cleaner tones and a surround sound, but the 5230 is also good given for its mono speakers) But it says here in www.gsmarena.com the 5230 makes up for one of the best music output (when I say music output it means: through earphones, exterior speakers not the built in speakers). Camera well the image quality in both phones are not that good,just average.
Well that's it, that's all the difference between the 5530 and the 5230. While some parts of these phones are pretty much the same, like the UI and the form factor.
So it's up to you. . .

AJIT, 19 Mar 2010Nokia5530, Nokia5230 and Nokia5233 which is better from the... moreThe difference is that the 5530 has wifi but no GPS and the 5233 has no wifi but does have GPS, so it depends on what you want from your phone. Remember there are always alternatives to GPS such as google maps

Hi nuwan.
I want to buy a touchscreen phone but i am confused b.w nokia 5530 and 5230 pls tell which one is good and trouble free.i have also heard that 5530 video recording is not good. Gps...3g and wifi not required the only concern is a good touchscreen phone with good music and nice camera and video recording.also i am a heavy user of internet. Thanx in advance.

@FlatlandGeek - you can try a soft reset first, then if that wont work. try a hard reset.
@Nuwan - do you know what's the difference between the OVI suite and the nokia PC suite? which one is much better to use? coz i think they both do the same thing. thanks...

Dear Nuwan,
I Found out a while ago that my firmware is already V 20.0.080, Software Version date 11-16-2009, custom version 20.0.080.C01.01, Custom version date 11-16-2009, and it still hangs and also the sound of the games that already installed in my phone are not working.and also about the video and camera it always hang turning to all black.it will not come back to normal if you don't restart it. is this an evidence of factory defect?i bought this phone 6days ago

Can u please correct your advertisement coding especialy for siemens which never goes away even if i click on close.. it irritates the user... it goes on getting large. and blocks the content for which we visit gsmarena..

i also wanted to knw if google maps latitude would work on this phone... im not sure as it does not have GPS... but latitude as an independent application, would it work??

I m facing a problem with my 5530x, the messages are not sorted in order when I select 'time' option. I have installed updated software, still the problem persists. Can anyone help me?
Another thing, I can not view or edit office documents, can anyone give me a web address from where I can download these softwares for free.

thank you for your reply. I actually read it on the Nokia website. i was comparing 5800 and 5530 and under speakerphone with 5800 it sed yes and under 5530 it was blank...so i thought maybe it doesn't have.
But anyway what is teh main difference between the two phones. No doubt i like the 5530 better, but features-wise wat all is not there in 5530 that is a plus. Then i would think accordingly, coz the price difference is not much between the two.

i will be going to nokia care today!!! they will install it for free rt?? and another question, do i need to name each and every application inorder to install them coz u told there are plenty of application ?? i need to install them all so wht should i do now?? is it enough that i will go there in nokia care n say them to install latest version of all applications?? hope so
