After Holding 5530 and 5800, what i felt is 5530 had a great Build Quality while holding, and also the Touch Screen and Touch Responsive is Really Much Better in 5530 than 5800(with firmware V40).
Except than 5800 has some more features like 3G,GPS,Front Camera,3.2" Screen, a longer Battery Life; 5530 really Wins over 5800 in design and Build Quality.
I Thought to exchange my new 5530 for 5800, but after holding 5800, i felt i was really Wrong.
Nokia 5530 Really ROCKS!!!
Because of the High Resolution, u even wont notice that much difference while watching videos on 5530 despite of its 2.9"Screen

thanks, i guess both suites are really the same, the only difference is the ovi store in the ovi suite. the rest are all the same features.
@anis,
i agree with nuwan, based on your requirements, just go for a 5530XM. go to a mobile store, and hold both the 5530XM and 5230 in your hands. you will immediately notice the difference in finish, the stainless steel finish of the 5530 is a winner. and since your a heavy internet user, the 5530 has wifi.

I am having difficulty with the 'dialer' and 'end call'keys on the phone, they do not work. For me to dial I have to press 'menu' key then press the dial key in order to make a call. Further, the shortcuts on the home screen do not show up and the 'dialer' and 'contacts' on the home screen do not work either. I have installed and reinstalled the latest device software and phone software updates etc and nothing has changed. What else can I do?

Hello Nuwan, i need little help on this. I've updated the firmware from the phone itself. Now my phone is working good. Problems like restart and hang is almost non existence. But after update while connecting to PC using data cable, both PC Suite and OVI Suite doesnot recognize my phone though i can connect it as mass storage option. So there is any problem with my phone or pc suite. Another thing is, it seems like the battery' power is draining quickly. Before update it used to last for nearly 2 days now i've to charge it every day. I've installed far less app than before as well. Thanks.

Nuwan, 20 Mar 2010you are welcome
god bless youDear all friends in GSMarena,
Still that 'Sick' person does his job...! (Pretending as Me...!) Well... I don't care unless he/she doesn't respond/reply to those which have been referred to me... But when he does, it could make my friends here confused... That's not fair..
So... Please take your time and REPORT this 'Sick' man's comments which come under my name 'Nuwan' but not from my IP...
Please note that, My IP will always be shown as 'tev' (tevi, tev9, tevl or something similar...) at the bottom of any of my post/comment... Though someone else can use my name, he/she can't use my IP.. (this is something like 'Genuine Nuwan Comment check...!')
For the person who does this...,
Please don't do this... It's not a good idea... Don't you think so...? I hope you would think about it...
Thanks in advance...

llllllllllll( ashuto, 20 Mar 2010 hey nuwan bro really wanna thank you for those comments.
... moreDear llllllllllll( ashuto,
You're going to ask from Nokia about those software...? Hei.. That will not be useful... Because they're not provided by Nokia... Those are 3rd party applications dude...!
Well... You can imagine the case like this.. Let's say you've got Microsoft Windows 7 installed in your computer... Now you hear about Photoshop, JetAudio, AutoCAD, Kaspersky Internet security, Firefox and you want them in your computer... But you will not go to Microsoft asking above... Right...? You will go to Adobe to ask for photoshop, Kaspersky to ask for Internet Security, Mozilla to ask for Firefox... Just because they all are 3rd party applications which are not coming from Microsoft...
Similarly the list of applications I've included are 3rd party applications and most of them are not from Nokia itself.. You'll have to go each software company in order to have them... (That's of course if you want to buy those applications.. If you've got enough money to do so... Then it' doesn't matter...)
However if you're OK with cracked versions of above software then you can go to www.dotsis.com in order to download and install them... (Some of them, for an example 'google maps' you can directly download from the software vender, as those applications are for Free...)
For your second question... 'Hacking the mobile' is not bad as it sounds... Actually I have told several times in this forum, we should reconsider this word 'hacking' and instead we should introduce 'Brightening' because the word hacking itself would make people afraid and nervous about the procedure...
In brief, hacking is almost a software installation which can be undone anytime you want... And it'll not do any permanent changes to your mobile... The thing is, you MUST do it if you want your phone to be capable of installing any application you want..

Anis, 21 Mar 2010Hi nuwan.
I want to buy a touchscreen phone but i am confu... moreDear Anis,
Who told you that 5530 video recording is not good...? 5230 has 2 MP camera and I don't think it can come even near to 5530 3.2 MP camera...! (Which care record wide screen videos at 30 fps...!)
I can't say whether 5230 is troublesome or not... But I can say, my 5530 is trouble free and serves me much better than any other mobile which I've used so far...
If you really don't care about 3G or GPS, then you should definitely go with Nokia 5530...! It can record high quality videos, it's got a stainless steel frame and more than anything else... It's so sexy and good looking... If you're a very heavy user of internet you would love to have wifi too... So why do you even consider 5230...? (I'm not saying 5230 is a bad choice... I only say, according to your requirements it's obvious that what you need is nothing but Nokia 5530 Xpress Music...)

Yeah... They both (Nokia PC suit and OVI suit) pretty much same... Nokia OVI suit is newer and has more features I think... (I can't confirm that as I've not checked the both thoroughly...)
However I'm more familiar with Nokia pC suit so whenever I want to see the messages, contacts and all, I use Nokia PC suit..
However OVI application installer is good so I use that in order to uninstall applications in my mobile sometimes...

FlatlandGeek, 20 Mar 2010Dear Nuwan,
I Found out a while ago that my firm... moreDear FlatlandGeek,
No... As far as I can think this is not a factory defect... I can think of few reasons.. Your case might be one of those... (Or may be totally different case..)
1) You've updated your firmware without soft/hard resetting your mobile so that after the update all have been messed up..
2) You've soft/hard reset the mobile without formatting the memory card... So after the hard reset you've inserted the memory card and some of the old software are there in the memory card but they no longer work as you've hard reset the mobile.
3) You've formatted the memory card and when the mobile searches for the applications installed in memory card, it no longer has those data (as you've deleted them already) and now giving you the trouble.
4) A malfunctioning particular to your mobile... (May be hardware fault or something...)
5) a Virus or something similar
As you can see, the fifth reason ('a virus') is very unlikely as mobile viruses are very rare... My most probable guesses are first 3.
Anyway knowing the reason wouldn't do anything right...? So I strongly recommend you to do a 'hard reset' taking the following precautions...
1) Do a back up to your private data and only private data... (Don't back up settings etc..) Only do that for Contact details, messages (if you want), calendar entries (if you want), notes (if you want).
2) Remove the memory card and format it.. (Do a complete disk check via your computer/laptop...) and then put the empty memory card to the mobile before the hard reset. (if you want the songs, photos and other private data in memory card you may save them as you want... But don't try to save the system, application folders/files.)
3) Make sure phone battery is fully charged...
4) Hard resetting will not take much time... May be 5 or 10 minutes... But you MUST be patient during that time and you should NOT interfere to the operation... Leave the mobile alone and let it do the whole thing...
Now you can hard reset your mobile using the code *#7370#
Note: You do a hard reset understanding that you are going to lose all your private data, installed games & applications etc in your mobile.. Private data can be restored using the backed up data... Games & applications which you've installed, you will have to reinstall again.. Of course default software will be there even after a hard reset..
Even after above procedure, if your mobile still continue to give you troubles, then go to the nearest Nokia care center and ask for a replacement...!
Hope this will help you...

Yes... Google latitude works fine with this mobile.. But it uses the Service provider's GPS coordinates in order to establish your location as this mobile doesn't have an inbuilt GPS reciever.. Service provider's GPS coordinates are not very accurate but it's ok for a rough idea...
