Shankar, 26 Feb 2010Thanks for your response.
I have no proper idea about th... moreDear Shankar,
First of all i agreed with the reply of Nuwan whatever he has said about this phone..it's totally free from any defect.
Since i m from India, new delhi and what i came to know about this phone is that this phone will capture and will destroy the market of 5800 xpress music in coming days.
Though it is only available with NOKIA Priority Dealers as of now...but whenever it will going to launch in Retail mkt it will definitely capture the market or you can say will overtake the mkt of 5800 XM.
I dont know much about you that from which country you belong or from which city you are? I request you to kindly Enquire about this Info in detail and get back with full info asap....
In the End i would say Go ahead and buy this phone....without any fuss!!
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,
Sandeep

Shankar, 26 Feb 2010Thanks for your response.
I have no proper idea about th... moreDear Shankar,
We actually don't know something like that... Because in Sri Lanka 5530s are sold without any trouble... Do you have facts and figures about what you say...? Or you're just telling something you heard from friends..
If they are really collecting all the 5530s from sellers, then I can only think of one single reason for that... 'The Phone is too good to sell...!'
Because I'm using this for about 4 months now... No problems at all... Everything works just fine... Please Note that I'm not an ordinary user of 5530... I'm taking almost all the things out of it...! So I'm sure I've used it as more than enough to recommend it to anybody else with confidence...
Guys... I did almost all the things with this which Symbian phone is supposed to to... No trouble what so ever... Go ahead and buy it if you like it... Don't worry, it's an awesomely brilliant phone...

i have a query on its weight. The specs in the GSM arena say that the N5530 weighs 107 g. So why then is it heavier compared to the N5800 xm if in fact the 5800 specs say it weighs 109 g.
Are the specs in this site reliable or not? jst a simple query from someone curious. Pls acknowledge

shahrukh kasi, 25 Feb 2010hey nuwan when i download apps from dotsis from mobile, it ... moreDear shahrukh kasi,
Your problem isn't very clear brother... Doesn't open where..? Did you try using OVI application installer in your computer...? (You've got to install the Nokia CD software in your PC first of all...)
Did you try transferring the particular software files (*.jar, *.sis or *.sisx most of the time) to your mobile (Through data cable or bluetooth) and installing them...? Any error messages...?
First of all, HAVE YOU HACKED YOUR MOBILE...? NO...? Then I'm sorry... (Because in order to install any software you want, you MUST hack your mobile... Otherwise No luck brother..) First of all you'll have to learn about hacking... Please search in google and follow the previous post of mine... It will give you a link to learn what is hacking, why you should hack and what is the procedure...

cned, 25 Feb 2010hi nuwan! how can i get flash support for this phone? thank... moreDear cned,
The phone has the flash support inbuilt... I mean by default flash is there... But you still can update it because it's a bit old version...
Go to SW update (it will be somewhere in Menu, I've changed the menu order so if I tell you my location, that wouldn't help...) and let is search for the new software updates... (You should of course have a good internet connection at this point...) There will be a list of updates and you select what you want.. (Flash in this case...)
However still you'll not be able to fully view each and every flash file in any web page... It's not a simple task buddy... But if you really want to try something alternative, download the skyfire web browser for mobiles (search google) and try using that... It has a very good flash support.. But other features are not as good as Opera Mobile...
OK... I have already put a long list of good applications here in this very forum... But I think they (GSMarena admins) are deleting some old posts time to time... (Though I can't figure out why... They are useful anyway...)
But you'll have to hack your mobile first of all... That's quite a job and if you're a newbie then it'll be harder than you think... But it's very simple when you know it... So my strong suggestion is, visit www.dotsis.com and find out about 'Signing' as well as 'Hacking'. There are plenty of posts, forums and software in that website which will guide you thoroughly..
Here is a MUST HAVE application list for Nokia 5530 Xpress Music.
1) Google Maps (Just like Google earth on your PC)
2) Y-Browser (File manager software, but way better than the default one... You can go in to hidden system files too)
3) PowerMP3 (Music player)
4) Resco Photo Viewer (Photo browsing, Photo editing software like ACDSee in your PC)
5) Photo browser (Photo browsing software with a very cool 3D like interface)
6) Quickoffice (Can Open, edit Office documents like Word, excel & power point.. Even Microsoft Office 2007 files can be edited using the new version of quickoffice mobile.)
7) Adobe PDF reader
8) Paint pad (Picture drawing tool)
9) Opera mobile (Very good web browser)
10) Youtube (You can view even high quality youtube videos directly from this software without any problem.)
11) Fring (VOIP calls, Video chat via Skype, Facebook, yahoo messenger, google talk etc chatting...)
12) Bright light (Use your mobile as a torch)
13) PhoNetinfo (Gives the System information of your mobile)
14) Kaspersky Anti Virus (Protect your mobile from virus, Spams etc.. Block unwanted calls, firewall also available)
15) JbakTaskman (Very good task manager like software)
16) RAMBlow (Memory cleanup tool)
Above 3, 4, 5. 6, 14, 15, 16 are not freeware... All others are freeware as I recall... Remember this is only a very brief list.. Only MUST HAVE applications... There are hundreds of them... But these are the most important among all... At least according to my opinion..
BUT....!
You are supposed to know 'How to hack your mobile...', 'How to sign your mobile' first of all... Great things are not that easy to earn... Visit www.dotsis.com and find out by yourself what is hacking and what does it do... Then after hacking your mobile, you can install all the above without any problem... (The same website has most of the above... Freeware you can search from google... Very easy...)
Here is the link for how to 'Hack your 5530'
http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_phone/s60v5-rom-modding-dev-certificate-patch/184054-helloox2-02-fully-signed-%2A%2A17-capability-opda-certificate%2A%2A-%7B-nokia-hack-%7D.html
Good luck brother...

luisito, 25 Feb 2010 yeah hotmail doesnt open, and I checked yahoo and my 5530 ... moreDear luisito,
Glad to hear from you brother... May be after considerable requests Hotmail will decide that it should give the support to mobiles as well... We'll wait for that...
Yeah... Not only Cinnamon... So many Spices are exported from Sri Lanka... We (South Asian people) strongly need spices in our meals... Without them, we can't even imagine about a meal... I mean not like you guys.. We use a lot of spices and you'll never believe how much capsicum (chilly) we take with each and every meal..
Back to the point... Now Opera mobile is in it's beta stage 3, may be with their final product lots of things will be fixed... (Better flash support etc..) I'm going to update to beta 3 as well...
Good luck friend...

experiment with 5580's battery in 5530!
After reading reviews of this phone and by my exp, found that the battery is very poor!. I had a thought of fitting 5800's battery into 5530, today i tried with my frnds' 5800 battery, infact the 5800's battery is smaller in lenght than 5530, so it fit in, but had a gap of 4-5mm at the lower end, though can fix by packing something in that 4-5mm space, but the back cover didnt fitin properly, bcause the battery is thick around 1-2 mm compaired to 5530s' :( bad luck. Still i booted the phone w/o back cover, it wrked.
may be if there is some after market back pannel for 5530 which is little bit deep caved-in, then can fit in 5800's battery!
2. i fixed the creeking back cover, with a cussion gum tape around 1mm thick, pasted around the camera hole. This made it feel better, no more creeking sound!. My back cover had already a black cussion tape sticked at the lower end of the cover, which sits exactly on the lower part of the battery when closed.
cussion gum tape is like dual sided gum tape, but gum on one side only!.

Muhammad Ismail KMN, 24 Feb 2010Dear Nuwan,
Thank you so much for your help!
Now, can... moreDear Muhammad Ismail KMN,
Actually with your usage of VOIP on Wifi, it's no wonder the battery drains so fast... Reasons are like this..
1) Wifi always take much battery power on your mobile
2) When it's not only connected... When transferring data it's depleting battery even faster
3) If you're using VOIP (I think all that time your mobile's screen is on... Like you can see the other person... Or it's just Voice Over IP only...? I mean voice only...?) If the screen is on, then it's usually drains the battery power so much..
4) Default brightness of this mobile is more than the average brightness of other phones... (That's why some people always say, this phone has a good bright screen.) But that has again caused to reduce your battery power...
Under above circumstances I think it's fair that you have a bad experience but still I think only 1 day is not that reasonable even for 1000 mAh battery... Because I feel my battery goes better than that... But I've used some small tricks to reduce my battery usage.
1) I've reduced display brightness very much... (The value before the lowest)
Go to menu - Settings - Phone - Display
2) Light time out has been set as 15 seconds (Same path as above)
3) I always use themes with pitch black backgrounds so that it'll require less brightness saving more battery. (Use a darker image as a desktop/home screen background as well...)
4) Standby breathing light has been off
Menu - settings - phone - Notification lights - Standby breathing light
5) In profile (In your case the profiles you're usually using) select personalize (Menu - settings - Personal - Profiles)
Set 'Off' to Touch screen vibration (This is not phones ringing vibration... This is something else... When you tap on the screen if you feel like your back cover is wobbling... The reason is this option... set it to 'Off' then it'll be eliminated...)
6) Set wireless scanning 'off' (Menu - settings - Connectivity - Wireless LAN)
By doing this you'll not face troubles with VOIP or wifi internet browsing... because when you open the VOIP software or browser, it'll search for a wifi hotspot... This will only avoid searching for wifi hot pots even when you don't really want a connection...
7) Always turn off bluetooth when you don't use it... Bluetooth is something which eat your battery...
8) Always avoid unnecessary programs at the background... You can use the software 'RAMBlow' to clean your memory (RAM) and to terminate the applications you don't usually use and allocate some extra memory for what you want to perform...
9) When you don't use the mobile, always make sure the screen lock has been activated...
10) If you don't really use the Accelerometer sensor, set it to 'Off'
Menu - Settings - Phone - Sensor Settings
(This will only 'off' the Accelerometer but not the proximity sensor... On the other hand, We don't need to disable proximity sensor as it's a battery saver actually...)
I don't know how many I've missed here... Please correct me if I've inserted a wrong opinion... Also, please add more tricks if you one or more...

this phone is brilliant!
yes wifi is free but when you're downloading applications make sure you only download trusted ones, like safe ones, if you dont, when you try to turn on your phone, it will stay on thw "nokia" screen so you'll have to remove the memory card first and then remove the application in question!
otherwise its a brilliant phone and i love it to bits!
