Asanka J, 10 Jan 2010Friend / Nuwan,
Can i have an understanding on how good ... moreDear Asanka J,
Hei.. Are you from Sri Lanka...? Your name sound very familiar to our country...
Anyway regarding your question about SMS typing... I'm sure you're gonna love it...
I've never used a touch screen before and I always used to type a lots of SMS daily... So before buying this mobile, I also was in a dilemma, whether I'll be able to manage typing SMS on this... Because it was so unfamiliar to me...
BUT... After buying this phone I realized it was not as I thought...! Now I'm typing SMS even faster...! For first most days I was struggling to get used to this.. But now, I'm in love with touch typing...!
But I don't normally use qwerty keyboard or handwriting using the stick... So I can't say much about them...
Qwerty keyboard is nice, but keys are bit packed closely so, it's somewhat difficult to type faster... (But normal keypad layout is very faster...)
Hand writing also is cool... I can write SMS very fast... (That's actually faster than typing when you get used to it...) And even it recognize very ugly letters I wrote...! Most of the time it identifies them very correctly.. So I would say Nokia 5530 has very decent handwriting recognition this time... However I personally don't like to use the stick to poke on my mobile (specially when I'm in public places... It's kind of showy... Right...?) So I always use regular keyboard to type...
Hope this will help...

Rahul, 11 Jan 2010Hi everyone.
I am still in doubt wether to go for this h... more1.yes . Edge is there + wlan for internet
2.camera is poor in low light. No improvement methods.
3.screen is responsive enough for a resistive one.
4.an application for youtube is available to play videos online. It can play medium quality flv as well. With Firefox browser called skyfire you can open full youtube site an play videos on the site itself.
5. Ou can get lots of third party applications for the social networks. Since the inbuilt browser can open full sites and supports flash there should be no problem there. + you have skyfire.
6. Texting is easy with querty as well as the handwriting recognition tech.
7. The downside is it's not yet officially available in india. And the seinhenser headset comes with nokia 5800 not 5530, but the one that comes with this is pretty good too.

Shan123, 10 Jan 2010Hi Nuwan...
I like this Phone and going to buy one.. I wat... moreDear Shan123,
Hei.. Believe me, you'll not feel such a big difference between 3.2 and 2.9 as a touch scree... Actually for me, I love the screen size this way because it has greatly helped to reduce the overall phone size as well... (Just have a look at big, fat 5800...! For extra .3 inches I think that's something you don't want to have..)
But that's of course my personal opinion... I don't know about you... I personally find this mobile is very very attractive and sexy than typical 5800 or 5230 look.. (It's thinner, lighter, smaller etc... Everything is positive to me... I'd rather like if it was even thinner...)
But if you want 3G or GPS, then you may want to consider 5800 or 5230 as well...

finnex, 10 Jan 2010OK i just got the phone yesterday, i'll give a quick 1st da... moreDear finnex,
Thanks a lot for your comments... I thought to write something here just because you're in the same line as me... I also was a proud user of 5220 before I moved to 5530 so we are pretty much in the same bucket...
And I agree with you for most of your comments... (Very clear.. Very honest.. and very true...!)
However there's a small doubt for me regarding your comment on sound clarity compared to 5220... I also find 5220 definitely has louder sound (in headset).. And I would say 5/10 of 5530 volume is equivalent to approximately 3/10 of 5220 sound...
and full loud sound (10/10) in 5530 is equivalent to 80-90 percent in 5220... (That's what I thought...!)
But unlike you, I found sound clarity in 5220 is better than 5530.. (Somehow my 5220 has lesser distortion level than my 5530 and I really hate music when it comes to more distortion...) But on the other hand, 5530 has very good stereo cross talk and decent frequency response... So higher degree of distortion level can be neglected... (And also, when compared to 5630 or 5800, 5530 has great sound quality... That's for sure...!) Overall music, 5530 is very good music phone compared to most of the music phones out there...! (Bass reproduction is just awesome..!)
I think, 5220 Xpress Music is the best Music Xpress phone Nokia has ever made... (As far as we concern about the music quality) Not only me... Several people who've used 5220, they've commented about it in this very forum... But I'm wondering why it can't be seen in GSMarena music quality test results...!

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2010thx nuwaan for giving the names of app which u r using... c... moreFor all those who're asking me how do you find above software,
Some of them (mostly free software) I found from www.mobile9.com
Some of them I found from nokia ovi website.
Others (specially paid ones.. which have been cracked of course) I found in www.dotsis.com
And hei.. when you're downloading from www.dotsis.com please be aware that there may be lot of garbage as well.. If you want paid applications for free.. that means you'll have to bear some risk as well...! Right...? However my best advice is, if you want to have them and if you've got enough money, you better pay them and buy them legally... For me, I don't think I've got enough money to do so... So I bear the risk of using cracked software..!
Good luck to you all...

winnie nigeria, 10 Jan 2010hi numan,saw your post.those applications interest me.just ... moreDear Winnie,
Please take some time with google and search for above software by their names... (I have typed them exactly as they sound so you may search by entering the exactly same letters...)
But in that way you'll only be able to get them by paying for them...! (Not all... But for certain... I've mentioned which are free and which are not...)
However if you're not willing to pay them then you may register in following website and download the cracked versions of them...
www.dotsis.com
There are plenty of good software in above web site but on the other hand a plenty of garbage as well..! So be careful... (And I am telling you... Just back up your phone anyway... Before you install anything from above website... You may want to sign certain applications by yourself and instructions on how to sign and all that also you'll find in same web site...)
Or else you may download above software as torrents... They also will be cracked versions... and would be needed to be signed... (Some of them...)

userrrr, 09 Jan 2010yes nuwan .. you are correct that we can load diff. types o... moreDear userrrr,
Did I write your name correctly...? Ha ha...
Yes.. When you say it's a great mobile from Nokia, yes, I am with you...
However you've mentioned something about applications too... I personally don't think this has enough applications.. But most important matter is, as this is a symbian phone we have plenty of applications out there to install...
I installed followings by myself.. (I didn't pay any of them though...!) and they are great...
After going through following list my dear friend, you'll realize how much this phone is capable of...
1) Quickoffice version 6 (Can open/edit Microsoft office 2007 files too)
2) Adobe reader
3) Opera mobile browser (This is free - Tab browsing plus a lot more...)
4) Power MP3 (One of the best mp3 players out there for mobiles... You'll feel you're using winamp in windows...!)
5) Resco photo viewer. (This is better than nokia default photo viewer... Can even open images in hidden system files, but you'll need Y-browser too)
6) Y-browser (This is free and totally cool when you want to browse everywhere in your phone and memory card)
7) MumSMS plus (You can lock all your sms with a pass word.. there are plenty of options too...)
8) Webgate advanced call manager (This is one of the best software I've found so far... You can make black lists and white lists of contacts and you can block any caller as you want...! And to play a recording when somebody is calling your etc.. There are plenty of options..)
9) Nimbuzz (this is free - You can access all your internet community sites with a single login...! Skype, Facebook, google talk, yahoo messenger and so much more...! And you can chat, call)
10) Google map (This is free... And great...! You can travel whole world on your palm...! Just like the google earth in your PC... Believe me.. Satellite photos are just like that..!)
Above is a very small list of applications you can run on this mobile... There are plenty of them more...!

luisito, 10 Jan 2010well nuwan!! yesterday I bough a 8gb memory card i,ve searc... moreDear Luisito,
What...? I actually don't know about a common code which can unlock your phone in order to install unsigned software... The procedure I know is which I have already described you...
And yes.. The procedure is little bit complicated but you'll be able to follow it... (You said you've already hacked an N95 before...) So I'm wondering why you can't follow the same steps this time too...
However as you've not mentioned your email, I am unable to send you the required software... However if you search the internet a little bit more (spending some more time with patience..) then you'll find the particular software and documents by yourself...
Good luck...
